MBassador saturates and synthesizes new bass tones, so you can make your bass easier to hear on small speakers or give your bass/kick/etc a sub bass sound it never had.
MCharacter seems to be more about altering the basic tone of your insturment.
I'm not sure, but I'm guessing MCharacter uses FFT while MBassador uses pitchshifting. Because of that MBassador might be better for things with sharp transients. Also MBassador has a cut off frequency, which helps control things in the bass regions.

Actually MBassador doesn't pitch shift anything and it has no latency
. And indeed it is used to enhance bass and produce subbass content. MCharacter uses FFT and it manipulates the harmonics of the audio. So in a way you could say that MBassador looks towards the bass, MCharacter looks towards the highs. And both work totally different way
.

I don't know much really. I thing RBass and MaxxBass are saturating the lowend, partly like the Bass section in MBassador, and LoAir also generates subharmonic like Sub 1 in MBassador.

Can MBassador act as an octaver look-alike or would this more be the domain of MCharacter if it had add synthesis for notes up to an coctave below?MeldaProduction wrote:Actually MBassador doesn't pitch shift anything and it has no latency. First of all "coctave" ha hamasitito wrote:Can MBassador act as an octaver look-alike or would this more be the domain of MCharacter if it had add synthesis for notes up to an coctave below?MeldaProduction wrote:Actually MBassador doesn't pitch shift anything and it has no latency. In my opinion, MBassador sounds great as an octave. To my ears it more accurately reproduces the note an octave lower than MCharacter does.

I think different things are happening here, though perhaps Vojtech will correct me: MCharacter is following the pitch of the signal, and so the octave is for that identified pitch only. MBassador is, presumably, creating octave lower for a broader signal, not just a note.

Correct. MBassador will create a sub for pretty much anything, though if it is polyphonic, things may get dysharmonic
. It doesn't need to follow the pitch like MCharacter, but the audio quality thing is more caused by the pitch shifting, which generally has problems with biog pitch changes especially with low frequencies.

Aaahh, interesting. I think you said it before, but then I should conclude that MCharacter better be used for other instruments (and voices) than basses? Using it on an upright bass would not necessarily work well?

this is soooooooooooooooo awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was desperatedly looking for a good octaver for my cello and THIS THIS THIS is it!!!!!! I work with 48samples on my RME babyface and this works with 0.6% CPU an NO dropouts and NO felt latency!!! It is such a fantastic cello/kontrabass sound!
I hate the latency thing on all other octavers, yes there are some quite good ones, but this totally kicks ass (for my purpose)!!!

I've got the 'old' one and it serves me well now for 6 years (I bought it when my daughter was born, because I needed to be flexible and mobile in that time!
I used the nice babyface bag which came with it for all the baby stuff i had to carry along. That was a nice first year just being there for my daughter. I am one of the rather rare cases that a father is able to go 1 year out of his job and take care for his baby!
