Ah, indeed. I stand corrected. At least it's mentioned.Subarumannen wrote:There's a link to this page from the FAQ page about compability or requirements.
But I'd really love to see Linux more prominent on the homepage and officially supported (if only for one specific distro - natural to do the same distro as Bitwig supports then). It would do much to promote Linux as a viable platform for audio work.
Not that it matters to U-He of course, but still...

It certainly mattered enough forBeamboom wrote: Not that it matters to U-He of course, but still...
to allow for porting the full U-he catalog, rather than just a test case or two. When ready, the beta tags will be dropped, even though there already is a high level of usability, in most cases.
Quite a feat for Abique to have accomplished.
The devs who use some linux, gain a level of future-proofing,
against unexpected diversions enforced by the other OS vendors.
When the fan blades turn brown, a little linux knowledge
may go a long long way.

The only thing left before lifting the beta status, as far as I am concerned, is to reverse the weird mouse wheel scroll direction, away from the Mac direction to the right direction.

This is so great. I went back to my Linux installation yesterday to work on something. The Airwave VST bridge is nice work, but still fumbling with that and Wine I just lost the whole evening to configuring stuff instead of working, and in the end most VSTs didn´t work anyway.
So nice to have some native software, with Bitwig these are already make for a nice setup!

They also are working well in Studio 1337 hosted with
Harrison Mixbus 3.6 (which even works in some older
versions of linux, kernel 3.8 era. Nice to have such talented devs making
high end daws, and the plugins to stuff them with.
Now I want a turkey with stuffing...only two more months...
I think I'll just make a mound of stuffing, and cover it with
a dome of chicken thighs & drums, and start it all roasting.
The local discount warehouse sells them in 10lb bags for $7.90,
cheap enough to start saving
for Christmas plugin shopping a bit early this year.
Cheers

Hi there,
The fact that these U-He synths run on linux was reason enough for me to sell my arturia collection and buy u-he instead.
My first buy was ACE, and I'm running in Mixbus on Manjaro. It works well but I'm having two problems:
I am unable to register my serial number. When the request to register or buy a license pops up I am able to click the other options, but when clicking "enter serial" nothing happends.
The pop-up requesters (when righclicking on the plugin to select display size, or when clicking on the preset name to select another one) dissapear very quickly. They stay up for about half a second, not long enough to make a selection. My demo versions of Diva and Bazille exhibit the same problems.
Apart from that all three work without crash or other problems and sound amazing!
Edit: After reading mor on this thread, I can see that I am not alone. I am also getting the message "failed to read menu output: Resource temporarily unavailable".

Hi Overmann,
I'm glad that you did the move!
Here is a simple work around to register your application:
I hope that you can register your plugin that way.
An other solution would be to install bitwig or renoise and do the registration from those.
For the context menu I have no quick solution, do you also have the issue with renoise or bitwig?
Regards,
Alex.

I don't own bitwig nor renoise, but I do love the idea of a tracker and have been eyeing renoise lately. I have no doubt I'll give the demo a spin very soon, but since your fix worked so well I'm not in a hurry. .)
The same will work for Diva and Bazille as well if i decide to buy those as well? Diva is sounding very good so far, and Bazille I have yet to dive into. I have no doubt it will impress as well!

You're welcome.
The same technique will work for every u-he plugins, as far as you adapt correctly the path.
Diva and Bazille: so much fun is waiting for you

Also, @Josander mentions a problem regarding the save button a few pages back. Just thought I'd mention that I'm having the same problem on my setup here using Mixbus 3.6. The save button does nothing.

I've never used Mixbus, is it different to Ardour?
Some host, does crazy things, like overriding some syscalls, or garbage collecting resources that they're not responsible for, etc... And in the end if they do so, they're responsible if the plugin does not work correctly.

Yes, it is different, but mixbus is built on Ardour. I did not fully understand the rest of your post. Was it a question? Either way, I would not attempt to explain how it is different or how it is built. I have little understanding of those things.abique wrote:I've never used Mixbus, is it different to Ardour?
Harrison have been a very good company to deal with (as has u-he), and both make a great product, so here I am using them.

I haven't done any deep investigation about this issues, but it seems to be some unusual stuff going on regarding menus and certain GUI elements. After some Googling, I believe that similar reports have been reported, so the good folks at u-he are probably aware of it.Overmann wrote:Also, @Josander mentions a problem regarding the save button a few pages back. A workaround I use for now sometime is to open my u-he stuff in Carla and connect it to mixbus with the jack patchbay.
Most of the stuff will also work when embedded in Mixbus, but you have to work around it a little bit.
