So the big takeaway for me here is the EVM Synthpack...I hadn't heard these before, and while not all of them have MP3 demos, what I did hear was pretty good - any comments/experience on EVM?

Say what? I may be mistaking you, but did you just suggest you want a Muse because EVM's stuff is on it?

That's like a $30 to $50 SE plug pack, man..I own the EVM stuff & they're all great & all, but that's hardly a selling point for this thing, is it?

I think what he ment was that the ting he is taking away from this thread is the new knowladge of the EVM pack. Saying (I think) that he hadnt hear of it till this thread and likes it Not that he is going to buy the Receptor for the pack

Im guessing an empty version wont happen. They pay companies for Receptor converted versions, so they have to sell them as a package. Is that right?

I dont think so.... Ive already met a few (4) developers not happy with muse at all...

All I am saying is some people are quite unhappy with Muse... money, company etc... I dont even think Im supposed to know what I do heh.

The linux Muse host is the same thing I beleive.

So you're saying that they use the Linux software sequencer named Muse along with Wine?

Im really wondering how they dealt with all the licenses that potential could be broken right now. Im not very good with license stuff, but it sure as hell seems like a few are broken.

there was a thread here a few weeks ago where Ben flat out eliminated any connection between the Linux Muse & the Muse Reasearch companies..

But it does strike me as very, very odd that there are TWO Muse 'things' running BOTH on linnux..

Im 99% sure the linux sequencer Muse is made by Muse Research. I could be veyr wrong though.... It would be a huge coincidence.

You can see that the Linux software mid/audio sequencer here is GPL licensed. IOW, not proprietary at all. According to the credits, the principal developers are:

Frank Neumann
Robert Jonnson
Werner Schweer!
Joachim Schiele

Do any of them have anything to do with Muse the hardwarebox company?

Plus the software still looks rather rough and unfinished, which it is at MusE 0.7pre4!

Don't really care though as long as it does it's job as advertised.

Something really needs to be done to make allowances for existing licenses for the provided synths.

If I own Albino or whatever else is 'free' in this machine, but I had to pay for a VST license already, I want that taken out of the cost, unless it comes in a new bullet-proof propriatary format that makes my coffee & never crashes is what I meant to say..

Obviously the word has been in common use for centuries, but we're talking about two specific instances currently in use for similar purpose.

There are a lot of similarities between the two. But not being a conspiracy advocate, I think it's just co-incidence.
