Does anyone know if it's going to possible to control Keyscape remotely via an IOS app of some kind? I'm sure I'm not the only live player without the time to buggerise around changing patches & sounds between songs using a mouse or a trackpad...
Hmmm....good question. I haven't seen anything about a dedicated Keyscape iOS app, but it *should* be possible to control it with the Omni TR app, if you have Keyscape integrated with Omnisphere (???).

Problem is; I don't own Omnisphere, don't need it and have no intention of buying it - I shouldn't have to either, as Keyscape is being marketed (from what I can see) as a stand-alone product. It's expensive and hard-drive space-hungry enough as it is without being forced to buy Omnisphere as well just so I can use Keyscape at my gig :-/

Then, you're probably looking at rolling your own controller via a third-party app solution, like Lemur, TouchOSC, etc. Unless, of course, Spectrasonics decides to release a dedicated Keyscape app. Personally, I'm with you and think that a dedicated Keyscape app would be more useful for a gigging musician than the Omni TR app is for studio guys (love the concept, just personally don't find it all that useful in a studio workflow).

Keyscape is a plug-in (as you probably know),
so you'll need at least an app to load it in.
There's some cool ones that are free!
There's also many iOS apps thar could be configured to do what your after I guess.

I'll admit I'm a bit of a moron when it comes to knowing what an AU Plug-in is, I'm afraid.... but thanks for the tip; I guess I just need to find an IOS app that will work with it....

First of all I'v just messed with a triple post.
Damn.
Should I'v said it's a plug in (AU, VST 2.4 or AAX), meaning that it's not stand alone.
You'll need something like Garage Band if you'r on Mac or something like this if you don't have Garage Band.

Don't know about PC, but there's surely a lot you could easily find by googling...
Hope this help.
Sorry for all those posts... :scared:

Ahhh ok, now I get it.... I use Logic Pro X on a Mac, so that - being 64bit AU compatible, should load it in... then I just need an app to control that remotely, and I'm set, I guess... :-)

Indeed.

Maybe Apple's Logic Pro remote app (it's free) or something like midi designer pro.

I agree that there needs to be a little more thought given to live performance, given that Keyscape is very appealing to live players. Personally, I think Spectrasonics would do well to release a small standalone app that loads any of their plugins, and has an iPad controller, a la the Omni app. They must have a good deal of the code already for the actual control side of it.

The weapon of choice for so many live players is Nord. A Nord is great quality, rugged, incredibly versatile, and built to be an all in one, hands on solution. Looked at it from that perspective, while the quality of Keyscape is beyond doubt, I can see Spectrasonics might have their work cut out trying to prise a Nord out of people's hands and get a laptop, buy a DAW and find a way control it all in a gig. (And the Nord, of course, handles a broader range than even all of Spectrasonics' products combined, especially organs - the Nord organ engine is fantastic).

I'm sort of surprised I haven't seen any screenshots of editing functionally like trilian, with the standard filters and envelopes and other modulations. Is there no edit page in this? Not that omnisphere users like me will care, but it seems strange to strip all that out for users who only buy keyscape.

I fear I am starting to want this, despite my best efforts. I do have lots keyboards and pianos already but it really does sound great and I do love the sound of spectrasonics sampled instruments. But more than anything being able to load these full sound sources into omnisphere and existing patches therein is really appealing.

Each instrument has a range of knobs where you can change the character of the sound in useful ways, and change effects settings.

Piano players don't need to go, nor will want to go much deeper than this - a few knobs to change up the character, tone and balance, and maybe tweak an FX level, and that's it. That's an appropriate design decision, imo.

Remember, this product, of itself, isn't a synthesizer - so don't expect to be able to go in and tweak the filter envelope and mod marix routings etc. If you want to do that, and you own the synthesizer tool to do it (Omnisphere), then you *can* - and the people that want to tweak deeper and are more into synths will likely have, or want Omnisphere to do it.
