I had a watch, it makes a bit more sense now! I don't have any other DAWs installed at this point but I think I have a free copy of FL Studio somewhere that I got years ago so I might try and find that and get it working. Otherwise I may have something else that can do it

Have a look at Reaper. It will do all what you want - I do this click things all day.

Ok, so far unfortunately this is not a workable solution. I am using the rewire device method.

The reason being that while tempo changes work, odd-time signatures do not - I've tried with both Melodyne and Reaper, and neither of them are placing the 'loud' click in the right place. The song I'm testing with is a pretty good test of this functionality as it mixes 4/4, 8/4, 7/4, 15/8, 10/8, etc.

A native solution would definitely be preferable if possible!

lay it's answer is cool. Here is another way to try. Put Tobybear's metrognome plugin on a track with no input or clips. On a separate track, select the first track as the source in the "Audio Tracks" submenu. Arm the track and record. Your beat will be printed to the second track.

Hey Rock, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately Metrognome isn't available as a 64-bit plugin, so I can't use it! I'll have a look around for any alternatives so I can try out your suggestion. I've been very busy and was finally about to try it out but of course x64 Tracktion won't pick up an x32 plugin

Tracktion 32 runs in 64 bit os. And since laying down the click would likely be the first thing you do, you might run in 32 just long enough to do that one task and then swap back over to your normal 64bit sessions.

I have wanted this feature for a long long time. It's hard to believe there is not an easy way to do this. I would expect to find 'Include Click' in the export options, I suppose.

I'm aware 32-bit will run on my 64-bit Windows, but I'm not inclined to have two installations just so I can perform one task. It just seems easier at this point to have Audacity record the wave-out.

But this would be a very welcome feature if it's ever introduced!

I did download bundles of 32- and 64-bit MIDI utilities, both of which include a VSTMIDI metronome. Again, haven't tried them out. By the person who wroteJBridge.
