Is there a way to treat mp3 files as audio files in Mulab instead of them being treated like samples? When you import an mp3, iot doesn't stream like an audio files. If you move the playhead to any point of a mp3 other than the beginning, the file won't play. I need to be able to start playback from any point of the mp3 instead of the entire file being treated like a one shot sample.

Mp3 files are compressed, wav are not. One solution is batch conversion of mp3 to wav, using a file management utility or an audio editor like Audacity.
