mutools wrote:Good news on the MuLab for Mac 64 bit story: I found the reasons for the high CPU usage in the UI thread. Oh man Apple can sometimes be so strange/erraticAnyway, besides loosing many hours to analyze this, the good news is i found a solution and it makes a huge difference! Now M7.1 UI performance is even better than M7.0. Update coming soon.
Side note to the Windows users who may feel penalized by these Mac works: (and to myself sometimes criticizing Mac) The Mac dev tools includes a very interesting analysis tool with which an app can be optimized. Yes Mac can be great, it's a wonderful tool! I will use this tool to also further optimize code parts that are common to both platforms, so also here the Windows users benefit from these Mac works.
Jo, this new version is a thing of beauty! If anything, it's now .5-1% more efficient than the 32-bit version. Consider me 64-bit now!
Thank you SO much for your hard work and I can hardly wait to see what comes next!
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

I think I may have spoken too soon. The cursor bar and fader animations are jumpy, like a couple of frames a second rather than smooth animation. If I hide the faders, then the cursor bar runs fine. I don't think that they are getting a big enough time slice.
On the plus side, no errors are bring logged anymore.
I'm about ready to lay down some vocals, depending on how my voice is behaving this week. Time to check out recording.

What do you mean with the cursor bar?
I also tried to repeat "jumpy fader animations" by automating a rack volume but it looks fine here.
Additional info welcome.

I have tried MuLab 7.1.8 for OSX 64 bit but I can no longer open a project done yesterday with version 7.1.7.

Hi Jo, I'm late to the party but I'm sure you realise how excited I am about this. Just loaded MULAB 7.1.8 on my ageing core2duo iMac running a recently installed OSX Sierra and the only surprises are pleasant ones. Sampletank 3 loads without a hitch, all the white windows issues from plugins such as Bliss, Helm and Tangle are gone and CPU appears to be more efficient than before. I will keep testing to see if I can break anything but I can't thank you enough for this update. Roll on Mac MUX!

By cursor bar, I mean the song position cursor. And by fader animations, I mean the LEDs, not the sliders themselves.mutools wrote:What do you mean with the cursor bar?

Also, I tried opening a fresh copy in El Capitan, but all I get is an all-white splash screen. Is it my computer?

Thanks for your feedback Calum! Of course i'm happy to hear all runs fine now.Calum wrote:Hi Jo, I'm late to the party but I'm sure you realise how excited I am about this. So do you get alerts like "VST plugin X not found" ?antoniaz wrote:All racks are not loaded properly. I just get the MIDI tracks.mutools wrote:Why not? What happens?
This error means that some VST plugin is trying to do some invalid threading crossover. Better not to use such plugins. The next version will also include the VST plugin's name in that error log.Below a summary of the log:
00:21:13:703 Error VstPlgnMngr[1103]
This error means a VST could not be created. It's strange that the log does not contain more info about the reason. Did you send the complete log?00:33:25:578 Xpand!2 has VST version 2400
00:33:25:633 Error MpuStp[1029]
Other question: Do your other VST projects open fine?
Is it only this specific project that won't open?

Thanks, I will be able to check tonight about the precise message but if I remember well I got something like "VST plugin X not found".mutools wrote:So do you get alerts like "VST plugin X not found" ?antoniaz wrote:All racks are not loaded properly. Anyway, new VST projects directly created with 7.1.8 do not show issues.
The issue is in reopening an older 7.1.7 project (I have just one of them).
