Creating a new midi tempo map to sync with recorded material

Is it possible to take a non-click tracked audio recording and create a tempo map that can be used to sync midi sequences?

Years and years ago I could do this with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and a CAL (cakewalk application language) file.

I could create a new midi track, enter a note event at the downbeat of one for each measure, or even right on every beat of every measure, and the CAL would read that and create a tempo map for the project.

Is something like this possible with T5, T6, or T7?

It was not available with T2 (which I've been using for, oh, a decade now), but there is a tedious work around.
I'm hoping there is an automated process for this now.

To be clear, I don't want to time-warp the audio to match a quantized tempo. I want a tempo map to match the audio's flexible tempo.

Yes it is possible. Both T6/7 have tempo tracks. I use it frequently, it works well enough although it is tedious of course.
