First I have to apologise. I´m definitely not a sound editor but more a "preset-type" of musician. I´m looking for a minimoog solo sound such as in Steve Winwood´s "while you see a Chance" or Manfred Manns Earthband`s "Davy´s on the road again". I know that Diva is capable of producing such a sound but maybe someone can point me to a preset which is Close and which can then be fine tuned by me. A bit old fashioned soundwise, I know, but I have a certain song idea where this sound would fit very well.
Thnk you very much for your help
Thank you very much

That Winwood example is a PWM lead type of sound, so not sure that it was done on a Mini?

Here my version of the Manfred Mann lead.
Some observations from the video:
OSC1 and OSC2 are activated. Full filter keytracking.
Later it's layered with the organ and sounds different.

The Winwood one sounds like a couple of different pulses, with slow contour attack. Gimme a minute or ten...
See attached. Needs more work, but I think it's already on the football pitch (as they don't say in the UK).

pretty darn close !!! question for you Howard, I did actually work with him briefly doing some Fairlight stuff in Dublin when he was here, a total gent BTW . The only synth that was around was a Prophet 5 with a CV/Expression pedal hooked into (I think ) the CV filter input. Could that have been the source of the sound. I of course could have asked him as it always fascinated me but a bit too starstruck.Howard wrote:The Winwood one sounds like a couple of different pulses, with slow contour attack. Yes, that definitely sounds like the case, P5 did have PWM... Mini did not.

Should also add that the Prophet was well worn and had seen a lot of use !!!EvilDragon wrote:Yes, that definitely sounds like the case, P5 did have PWM... Mini did not.

IIRC the lead on "If you See a Chance" was a Multimoog - which has a pitch ribbon instead of a wheel. PWM isn't necessary for that sound, but variable pulse width might be (off to check Multimoog spec...)

Tx Howard, it does look like he said in an interview it was a Multimoog.Howard wrote:IIRC the lead on "If you See a Chance" was a Multimoog - which has a pitch ribbon instead of a wheel. PWM isn't necessary for that sound, but variable pulse width might be (off to check Multimoog spec...)
