Is anyone else having this problem with Final mix...

Maybe I am missing something here but try this out...

If you use any preset in a project, when you save and re open that project Final mix goes straight back to the default preset "Acuma CD Mastering".

Jules...? Anyone?

Confirmed. :( I was wondering why my mix sounded different, but I just thought it was a new day and "new ears"... since I was only playing back (not actually mixing), I didn't dig into each plugin to see whassup.

Not great. I hope Jules is aware of this.It rains on the Final Mix party a little. Hopefully a fix is on the way.Anyone else with this problem?

Any workarounds?

Try saving the settings as a user preset. Give it a name that is easy to identify with the edit, such as the edit's name, so that you can reload it.

Good enough workaround for now--

Otherwise, it's time to get a "quicknotes" / "Post-It" type plugin to keep a record of which preset was used. That's a BIG bug/problem, though, and were it a plugin that I had paid for separately, I would be on the developer's case like flies on shit. Technically, since it IS a part of the paid-for package now, it should be supported the same way; however, I still can't help but view it as a generous freebie so I'd feel bad with a letter-storm. Hopefully it'll get noticed and fixed in a pleasant enough way.

Hi PT I have already done this and it is the only way I can think of to get around it but it is an odd oversight on Mackie or Jules part.I am pretty sure Jules will probably add a fix for the next T1 update. 8)

My FM seems to recal its presets :?. I save them as user presets anyways just in case. But so far I've opened 3 songs and they all had their presets.

I doubt very much this is a Jules bug since preset handling is pretty standardized across VST plugins. It is more likely that the non-standard preset handling used by FinalMix is where the load/save bug lies.

Jules *may* be able to implement a workaround, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

The problem likely needs fixing in FM, but something tells me I wouldn't hold your breath about that either.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

Replicated on my system. Not a showstopper, more of an irritant at this point. I'd love a "track notes" VST myself, useful not just for things that don't recall presets properly but to remind me of what my ideas for the track were.

Oh well, I still like the way it sounds. User presets, here I come! :-o

Yeah that would get annoying very fast. If it happens to me I'll probably just save all the presets as user presets.

Mackie strikes again!

Has anyone emailed jules personally about it yet?

I find FM to be a big CPU hog, and on my P4 laptop it denormalises like crazy. I'll stick with KA Master Limiter + mda Dither until I save up for T-RackS or FinalPlug :)

And what the hell? No built-in dithering for CD mastering - I wouldn't pay $399 for this as a commercial package. Good thing it's a freebie then.

I also found some of the presets to be fairly useless to be honest. Doing weird EQ stuff which takes the guts out of some mixes.

I tested too and it appears to save the actual settings you made to the plugin, just not the name of the preset name you saved it with in the little window. It defaults to say Acuma CD Mastering in that window on loading.

So it was just a bad mix, after all? :D

Sounds like we're going on a reverse-swing here just because the plugin's not all everyone hoped for...

For what it's worth, it's been the quickest and most effective way to get control of my vocal tracks. My mic sucks and my singers don't know how to use consistent volume or orientation. Consequently, I've had to use any number of different combinations of "one-type" effects to get them in line, which works but is very time-consuming and annoying.

With this new plugin, I just throw it on the track, pick one of the "male vocal" presets, and it's sorted. Even if I just take my raw track, render it through FM then shit-can the original take, I'm a much much happier man for having this plugin.

Tracktion suffers from amnesia with a lot of plugins.

Do you want me to list them here? :hihi:

I never had a similar problem with any other host.

But yes, of course it's not Tracktion's fault. :?
