a rock/metal record I really really like is deftones "koi no yokan". The rest of their repertoire is a bit hit and miss for me at times but that record has everything going for it...needs a few listens to get familiar with the song structures, but must check it out :)

You dare call Led Zeppelin ancient and dinosauric?!
Okay maybe I shouldn't have called Led Zeppelin ancient and dinosauric. Would "gassy" and "plumbumic" be better? What would you call Led Zeppelin?

Is it okay to call T-Rex dinosauric?

Techno shit for sure ! :tu:

Did anyone notice that the guy is looking for "instrumental"?

If by "instrumental" you mean "without vocals", you need to check out "post rock". Caspian, Explosions in the Sky, Yndi Halda, Mogwai, Godspeed you Black Emperor, etc.

Well, I thought instrumental in the OP meant that s/he was looking for some good players

But if it means no vocals, then the choices are obvious:

Carcass, Early Metallica, Megadeth - Not quite right there.

I think op would more be into Europe, Bon Jovi or Extreme.

That said, Iron Maiden are a good recommendation, as they are about as heavy as tissue paper. Especially, with Bruce's ultra high pitched squeals.

I thought OP wanted stuff with synths?

My metal listening days are long gone, but the one band that I still occasionally check if they've got new material out is called Finntroll. There's screaming, but for the most part it's in the most trollish language ever known to man, swedish, and it fits the aesthetic. Plus good keyboard stuff as well. Filed under "folk metal".

"The time of the chase".

Most of their stuff is out on the Spinefarm label, as is Machinae Supremacy mentioned in the OP. The label's discography is worth checking out.

Symphony X and Aversions Crown.

Everything else is baby innocence and kitty farts.
