Help with monitoring direct guitar recordings

Hey all, I have been using Tracktion since version 3, but really haven't dug deep into what it can do. I really love this layout, and I feel that I get really solid recordings with this DAW. Though, I can't seem to figure something out. I like to record direct sometimes and use VST plugins for amp simulation, but I can't figure out how to hear the VST before I actually record something. I have also used Reaper, and I can listen to my VST plugin chain before I actually record a track. I can listen to while I am recording to in Reaper. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to do this in Tracktion 5. I know that it is probably easy to do, but I am at a loss. Can someone please help me figure this out? Thanks!!!
Also, I am using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 for my interface. Thanks again!

@colejustesen what did you do to solve it? i can record the guitar with a great signal but i can't listen to it until after it's recorded. can't figure out how to monitor it.

click the armed track for recording direct. It will open up some adjusments at the bottom of the screen; this is where the e-to-e option is. Enable the e-to-e option and you will be able hear your sound being sent through your monitors as you play, and before you even record. Where I was going wrong is that I was clicking on where you can name the track, make sure you click on the arm where it shows the recording level and "input". The two different areas have two different screens that pull up at the bottom.soulxcity wrote:@colejustesen what did you do to solve it? i can record the guitar with a great signal but i can't listen to it until after it's recorded. can't figure out how to monitor it.
I hope that helps. I am telling you how to do this from memory, as I am currently on my Linux system and not my windows system.
If you have any more questions, please let me know!

Hey dudes, sorry if I re-bump this thread, but I'm using Tracktion 5 and had the exact same problem: only thing, I'm not able to find this "end to end" button. I asked mr Google about that, and I found out that some threads talk about the options>run audio engine when stopped button as if it was the same thing. While I don't think it's the same thing, I tried to enable and disable it and it didn't work.
Now, I'm new to Tracktion but I'm a quite experienced Ableton user, so I like to think that the problem is not my n00bness, but I hope some of you guys can help me out on this.

Not sure about T5, but in T7 it's renamed "enable live monitoring" or something. Click on the input device in the column to the left of the track, and you should find it.

Thanks, skipscada!
I looked for it, had to click exactly on the shape of the track arm-unarm button, not on the track name, and then the "Live input monitoring" button showed up.
This is a clever DAW, however, really enjoyin it.

Just clicking on elements (sometimes right-clicking) and looking closely at all the options that come up at the bottom will help you make the most of Tracktion. Also, take a look at > Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts for lots of fast and useful functions.
