no mention at all of the new roland windsynth, seems like a major oversight.
certainly as cool as any keyboard, more expressive and lyrical. seems a site that covers midi controllers should be all over it.

You realise that any 'mention' would basically be 'repost whatever PR blurb Roland sent', right? KVR doesnt exactly have journalists.
And if Roland dont send them anything...

it probably was sent along with all their latest releases, i see other news outlets mentioning it.
it was released on that same day as all their latest and was part of the 909 presentation.

Oh goody, a second thread on the same thing.
As I pointed out on the other one: it has no obvious features that mark it out as a better controller than others already available. Its primary selling point, unless you really, really want a particular type of fingering, is the built-in synthesis (a port of SuperNatural over from the keyboards) – which is somewhat orthogonal to the idea you want to push here that it's some great MIDI controller.

I'd like to add functional hardware to my home studio but I also have the question what it really offers to my setup. For that prize. And Roland didn't advertise this instrument as extensively as the Keytar. For instance.
I guess spamming kvr doesn't help the sales either. Just saying.

i think the lip based pitchbend is pretty exceptional, you cant do that subtlety and intuitive kind of thing with a pitchwheel/ribbon.
the octave key setup is pretty nice.
kvr covers little drumpad things ad nauseum.
and it blows me away that nobody has ever seen one of these on tv or in concert.

@Tony
Well, I'm just being cautious. Thanks for the info again.
As a noob it's hard to figure out; I can do very little with the common -limited- specifications.
I am interested so that's my motivation. I don't think it looks too bad in a sense that it could be not a stage instrument. I've seen worse.
Any way, as a studio instrument in the traditonial sense like guitars, drums, hw synths, etc., for me a wind instrument could add something to my setup. Qua character afaiac. I certainly will test it in the showroom
Edit:
Head lines:
"..a breath sensor that reacts like your favorite acoustic horn."
Next two paragrahs nothing is mentioned about a breath sensor. Then the third paragraph.. it is mentioned sideways:
"the AE-10 has a sensitive mouthpiece-mounted breath sensor that also functions as a bite sensor, allowing expressive techniques like vibrato and pitch. Even beginners will be able to enjoy playing the various onboard sounds straight away."
Just a form of bad presentation. The headline raises an expectation, the NEXT paragraph should explain about it. At least if the author wants to keep the attention of the reader.
Instead between useful info Roland Corporation states stuff like:
"....thanks to Roland’s advanced SuperNATURAL modeling technology. Alongside individual sounds, you can pull off a seamless performance with the Full Range feature..."
I deliberately left the statements without context; they speak for *themselves* IMHO

I'm surprised that they're willing to try selling a wind controller but no one is selling a breath controller.
I have a Yamaha wind controller and physically modeled synth module combo I can barely play already

Tec in Sweden is making one. In fact they're making two - a basic breath-to-MIDI USB stick and one with a bite sensor as well as tilt and nod because, well...why not?Jace-BeOS wrote:I'm surprised that they're willing to try selling a wind controller but no one is selling a breath controller.
I'm on the cusp of ordering one because I fancy having the bite control that I can play with a regular keyboard – simply because I have more practice at it.

my friends, please keep in mind this is the site stuff forum and such discussion about products should remain in the proper forum...

KVR is like 90% GAS, so obviously KVR does not hate wind synthsTony Ostinato wrote:no mention at all of the new roland windsynth, seems like a major oversight.

so when will i see the aerophone ae-10 on the front page here? who can i talk to to get this shit cleared up?
"KVR is like 90% GAS, so obviously KVR does not hate wind synths"
windsynths seem to have been banned from any mention in products here, not a single one is listed or talked about. its LAME.

Is windsynthophobia really a thing?
[dislike of or prejudice against windsynths]

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Yes, and you have it. And so does everyone else here. Especially those with any other form of breath controller. Because they are overcompensating for their AE-10ophobia. Apart from Tony Ostinato. But the exposure to the phobics makes him play the same notes over and over again.Aloysius wrote:Is windsynthophobia really a thing?
