I was looking at the T-Racks Saturator X and it seems like it just adds noise and distortion? I mean it did sound good on the drum example, but the rest I would not use I don't think.
So I guess my question is, what do they mean when they say "Adds Warmth"?
thanks

Is it just me or is this the cheapest this has ever been - or am I missing something?

^ They had a similar upgrade offer a month or so ago when they were doing the Xpand!2 for $1 deal. Can't remember if it was 40% or 50% off the upgrade back then though.

I think it was 40% and I'm pretty sure it was 40% off $200, not $150 it is now...Philip_P wrote:^ They had a similar upgrade offer a month or so ago when they were doing the Xpand!2 for $1 deal. Can't remember if it was 40% or 50% off the upgrade back then though.

Yeah, you're right, it was 40% off but the full price for the upgrade was $150 like it is now: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... r#p6531712MogwaiBoy wrote: I think it was 40% and I'm pretty sure it was 40% off $200, not $150 it is now...

it thickens up the sound by adding additional harmonics, in the same way as when you drive sound into analog hardware.dzilizzi wrote:I was looking at the T-Racks Saturator X and it seems like it just adds noise and distortion? In conjunction with the built in limiter, it's also a good way to increase the perceived loudness of the source audio.
I have a bunch of distortion/saturation plugins - but t-racks saturator x is something special imo.

Ahhh - thanks for that link. Yeah that's right it was 40% off making it $90 for the upgrade. Now it's 50% making it only $75! I guess I got one thing right.. this is the cheapest it's ever been.Philip_P wrote:Yeah, you're right, it was 40% off but the full price for the upgrade was $150 like it is now: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... r#p6531712MogwaiBoy wrote: I think it was 40% and I'm pretty sure it was 40% off $200, not $150 it is now...

Yeah, I just paid $100 for AIEP3 complete upgrade on 9/15. You lucky dog. $75 is a deal. Vacuum Pro, and Loom alone are awesome and worth it. The others are also very interesting although I've not checked them out yet. Transfuser sounds like it has potential as a loop changer tool and from what I've read it can work with RMX loops. So that might be a poor mans Stylus RMX? Not sure, but maybe. The FX collection was only on ProTools for years, so that is nice to finally be able to play with on all platforms.
I shoulda waited and saved $25 smackers. Could have applied that to Saturator X...

However thanks to the collapsing pound, its not quite as big a deal now in the UK as it would have been a week or so ago. Thanks, brexit!MogwaiBoy wrote:I think it was 40% and I'm pretty sure it was 40% off $200, not $150 it is now...Philip_P wrote:^ They had a similar upgrade offer a month or so ago when they were doing the Xpand!2 for $1 deal. Thanks! It looks kind of interesting, but the video was mostly distortion except the kick drum which sounded amazing with it.OneOfManyPauls wrote:it thickens up the sound by adding additional harmonics, in the same way as when you drive sound into analog hardware.dzilizzi wrote:I was looking at the T-Racks Saturator X and it seems like it just adds noise and distortion? It would be tempting, but I never managed to get Xpand!2! to install (tried on two different machines) and there was a stony silence from tech support, so they'll need to push the price even lower before I biteMogwaiBoy wrote: this is the cheapest it's ever been.

I had a problem installing (or rather, getting it to be recognised) too. If I remember correctly, getting it to work may have had something to do with removing the "!" symbol from the name: if I look at the .big file now in my applications folder it is just "Xpand2.big" (I am using a Mac, not sure how it works for PC users).coincidental wrote:It would be tempting, but I never managed to get Xpand!2! to install (tried on two different machines) and there was a stony silence from tech support, so they'll need to push the price even lower before I biteMogwaiBoy wrote: this is the cheapest it's ever been. It's a good deal if you're starting out and this stuff isn't duplicating other things though. And you can get it to work.
It works fine now, it's actually very quick loading and a decent plugin. Haven't decided about the upgrade though as I'm not sure if there is anything there I really need...

I actually already had most of them with Pro Tools and liked them, so it is nice to have them in VST now. But I sure wish I waited - I haven't used them enough, other than Xpand2 and I got that for $1 or so.
So, I got an email from Minimal Systems and their plugins are on sale for really cheap. Anyone try them? I may just pick up a few to see how they sound. Really, though, I have too many plugins. I mean, how many 1176 style compressors do you need? Or vocal tuning? Now an new piano.....
