Seems Mulab does not like Predator, or the other way round :hihi:

Had an instance of it open, along with several other plugins, complete with tabs due to minimizing. And as I was switching back and forth between the tabs, the Predator window disappeared completely. It still sounded, but I could not open it anymore. So I tried to open another instance from the browser and Mulab crashed.

The VST window completely disappearing happened yesterday as well, but I thought it was just an isolated event.

Here's an odd bug for you: Mac v7.1.28

The Play transport button toggles properly when you click it, but not if you use the spacebar. Playback starts and stops properly, the button just doesn't toggle.

Edit: forgot to mention running on Mavericks.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

I can't repeat that. Anyone else?

Post

Can't repeat that either (El Capitan).

Spotted something else though while checking the above. MuLab's virtual midi keyboard appears to be producing midi notes that sustain indefinitely in M7.1.28. Looks like there is no NoteOff message being sent when keys are released. Works as expected in M7.0.48.

Confirmed. Will be fixed. Thx for reporting this!

Are you saying that the play button is grey (=off) while the play position line is moving?

Is this with all projects (including the demo projects) or only with some specific project?

I decompressed the .zip file with Entropy, instead of Archive Utility (default decompress utility on osx),dragged its contents to a new folder, launched Mulab: works.
Still odd that it doesn't work with unzipping through Archive Utility ; shouldn't happen.
It may be related to this new MacOS Sierra thing:

I will further look into this.

Note wrt launching MuLab for the first time on MacOS Sierra:

Due to some new security 'feature' (lol) in MacOS Sierra it may be possible that MuLab doesn't launch as expected, only showing an empty dialog box. This is because MacOS Sierra heavily distrusts 3rd party apps and Apple gives the user no easy way to tell that MuLab is ok.

Here is a way to bypass this issue:

* Open the Mac Terminal (Mac -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal)
* Type "xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine " without the quotes, but including that trailing space
* Drag-drop the MuLab.app file after that trailing space
* Press return/enter to execute the command

This will remove Apple's standard distrust and now you should be able to launch MuLab as expected.

Post

Alternatively use a non-Apple zip extracter so that the extracted files are not put in quarantine by default.

Post

You could do this on a PC, don't know about the Mac: can you set up a desktop shortcut to "xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine $@" that then takes any (list of) files dropped onto it as arguments? That would make life much easier than using a command prompt for many.

Post

Thx for the hint. Though i assume that the shell file containing the command will also be put in quarantine when unpacked so the problem is still there. (didn't test it yet)

What does the "$@" exactly do?

Post

$@ is the unix shell syntax (at least on Linux bash, no idea on Mac's shell) for "all files, as if in quotes" -- like %* on DOS batch. And yes, it would be something the end user would need to set up -- but just the once, hopefully.

Not surprising that Apple adds new obstacles for non-Apple software. I use the free Stuffit Expander to open RAR and Zip files in a separate drive to be stored as backup.

Wow! I didn't know Stuff It was still around. I use The Unarchiver, which pretty much opens everything that Mac Archive Utility won't, especially dodgy Zip files.
