another tedious rendering problem

tried doing a search (honest) but so much came up it was a real headache. Using the latest version 1.6..., last night tried to render a couple of audio tracks to one wav. file. Whether I replaced or added to these tracks, audio quality of rendered track was poor in comparison to originals - background crackle.

Has this been done to death already - if so, appologies.

using a US-122. Have exported and rendered before without any problems in earlier versions of T.

bump

no ideas? It's quite annoying not being able to render tracks now (freeze takes so long). The tracks are clean - no filters other than vol/pan, and are being outputed directly to audio device (not other tracks).

where could i be looking?

To be honest, I haven't tried render yet since upgrading. I'll let you know how it turns out once I give it a go.

No problems here.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

hmm - i didn't really suspect it was related to the T update. Assume it's to do with my set up - but then nothing has changed. No major opperations running in the background, not rendering any potential nasty vsti's. I'll have to try again tonight, play around with different settings on the soundcard (clutching at straws here) - may fix itself...

It's a very strange thing. If you can reproduce this then send the edit to Jules and explain exactly what's happening.

Sometimes I've felt that rendering edits that use Kompakt have given poor results and I haven't been able to trace the source of the problem any further.

good idea, will do. Just want to make sure first that it's nothing to do with my system. Am working on a notebook, which has never been a problem to date (rpm5400, 2.5 athlon) but something may have changed without me realising. I'm just not sure of the different parameters (e.g. buffers?) which may affect this.

Could you post a clip so that I can hear what the distortion sounds like?

Sure - it's on my home pc so will be able to do it tonight. I'll pm you. many thanks for the offer.

it's not loud distortion as such - just a quiet background crackle (which is part of the audio clip i.e. increase volume of clip, increased crackle), but loud enough to be heard in the overall edit.

Does anyone have this rendering problem?
When rendering or frezzing a track the rendered file cuts the FX tails.
example: Last portions of delays, reverbs etc.
Any help is apreciated guys.

can't say I've noticed it, but will take a look. Will try some rendering with different drivers (soundcard, asio4all etc) see if there's a difference.

I think that's standard. It's difficult to intelligently quit rendering when effects with long tails are used, 'cos there is little a priori knowledge on the host's behalf as to what the plugs are actually doing. Attempting to track the tails just wastes CPU cycles.

Tracktion should render untill the end of a clip, so if your last clip ends with a long reverb tail, manualy stretch the clip to a suitable length, and your reverb will be rendered.

that's why I never noticed it

When I render a midi track playing through Kontakt, if I've done any punch recording, I often get sections of the midi track that don't render at all. Other VSTs seem fine, and it's only when I punch in recording.
