With these settings:

The band gain was changed by MIDI note pitch (C-2 -> -4.80 dB, G8 => +6.04 dB, not the MIDI velocity of note #48

Bug , or have I missed something?

That's correct, the Notes tab reacts to MIDI notes, not velocities. For velocities use Controllers tab, there's a virtual controller "Velocity (on)" (plus a few more).

Ah ha. I now see this "Note defines the controller's target MIDI note. It is used only in On/off and Switch modes, which you can set using Mode parameter." Perhaps it should be greyed out if it is not usable fin the currently selected Mode?

Using Velocity on the Controllers tabs doesn't quite do it, as that is not note-specific. I was aiming to use a single note number with different velocities to control a parameter.
  • 'Notes' uses the MIDI note number to control the parameter (in linear mode)
  • 'Controllers' with a controller selected uses the data value of that specific controller to control the parameter
  • 'Controllers' with 'Velocity' selected uses the velocity of any MIDI note received -- 'Controllers' with a controller selected uses the data value of that specific controller to control the parameter
Perhaps that additional mode could be added at some stage? It is the equivalent of the first Controllers mode that I listed.
