Hi MuTools-Team

I'm writing to you because I have yet another very annoying and work-breaking problem with MuLabs. Whenever I record a new project everything works just fine, however, when I close a project and re-open it another day I'm unable to record any audio tracks. I can press the record button and the audio playback starts as usual but it doesn't record any new inputs be it MIDI or audio inputs. I always have to start a NEW project, copy-paste everything into the new composing window to continue my work. This problem occurs EVERYTIME and makes it basically impossible to use your program. Naturally I tried reinstalling the program, restarting my computer, restarting my audio interface, deactivating all windows sound devices, reinstalling drivers, ASIO software. As you can see i tried to localize the issue as good as possible and it seems that this is a MuLabs-problem, since my other DAWs work just fine. Please let me know how to fix this problem.

Regards

What OS?
What OS version?
What drive have you extracted MuLab to?
Do you have write permission to that drive without running as administrator?
Are you running as administrator?

Can you narrow down the problem by starting from a new project, then do an audio track as you did before, save the project and reload it and then get "the problem"? If yes, please give the step-by-step procedure how to repeat it.

Alright, I'm running it on a Windows 10 computer. I've extracted MuLab to the regular drive C: (which has never been aproblem for any program). I have all the permissions I need to do whatever is needed (since no other program causes this problem)

@mutools:
1) I'm starting MuLab and created a new project. I hit the button to create a new audio track and choose the correct input channels.

2) I'm recording an audio track with the microphone connected to my M-Audio Sono 61. As you can see on the screenshot everything works just fine.

3) I pause my work by saving the project just like you save a project in the default folder

4) I close Mulabs

5) I restart MuLabs and re-open the previous prject hitting the shortcut

6) Now when I try to continue recording i can still see the amplitude down at the control panel, however, theres absolutely NO recording after I stop.

7) I've tried to restart the audio engine, select the input channels again, however, the only thing that works is starting a NEW project.

I should add that audio playback still works fine and I can still listen to what I recorded earlier but I'm unable to record anything.

If you open the MuLab browser (button on the toolbar), then select "What: Audio Files" and "Where: This Project", what do you see listed?

Post

I just double-checked audio recording cfr your description, all working fine here. Please make a screen video from the whole process ie from starting a new project, recording something, saving, reload, cannot record.

Post

There you go. Here's a poorly recorded video of my issue.

Post

I'm sorry but the video is not clear enough, i cannot read the texts in the dialog panels, popup menus etc, it's all too blurry and shaky. Pls use a proper screen recorder, there are several free options around. It's a good time investment to have one installed, you might need it in the future again, for screen recording MuLab and for other apps.

Post

Alright, another one. Video will be availabe in about 30 minutes. As you can see, there are no error message or any unusual popup menus. Just the regular procedure which doesn't work properly.

I have the impression that you're using a custom "New" MuProject template, right? Please email it to me as a zip file.

Post

Isn't that the situation which should open the dialog box asking you what to do with the new recording, like merge or replace etc.?

Post

No this is about audio recording.

Post

Rakastaan, are you using the latest MuLab version ie M7.1.30 ?

Pls also do this:

Start from a new project and do some audio recording and save the project as before. Now instead of quitting and relaunching, simply do Project -> Revert Project. This will reload the project as it was just saved. Now try to record something. Can you record in this case?

Oh, is it different there? I have never recorded audio in Mulab so far :P
What is he doing in the browser at about 1:30?

Is he using the paid or the free version?
