Now I'm a fully paid up member of the BitWig society

I hope that the boyz will add a midi in filter on the track inspector
For those of us that have controller keyboards that are capable of splitting the keyboard in 3 or more splits each with its own midi out channel.
Coming over from Cubase this was a breeze to setup right from the inspector, even down to what cc's it allowed through
whereas bitwig only seems to have Omni mode

Please add this as a feature wish, I'm sure others would also find this useful

Cheers

thanks for the link

it seem seems
exactly what I want. But I have an axiom pro 49 that can spilt the keys and also send on different midi channels. but its not a supported built in script
so I am already using a script for my keyboard that lets me use it, so the transport buttons work and also midi learn on the faders and knobs

so I don't think I can use another script for it at the same time

On Cubase you simply had a midi filter right on the track inspector
and you could choose what midi channel that track accepted and also various other midi data. It was so easy to use. I cant figure out why bitwig hasn't got this feature

not having this feature is a major problem for me
so I hope they implement this ASAP
cheers

I really wish there was a midi channel selector on the note filter device. I'd like to limit the midi channel input not just for a given track but a layer in an instrument rack.

Has there been any way to do this?

There are several vsts that do this, for windows there's pizmidi.

I don't think that would help though, since bitwig collapses all incoming midi unto channel 1. I really wish they would change this. Tom's scripts are great, but I'd wish it'd be script independent.

Thanks, looks good! Will check it out...

I found two solutions for this in third-party VST plugins. One is piziMIDI and the other, that I rather prefer, is the Plogue Bidule 64 bit VST plugin.

The reason I need to play different MIDI channels into instruments is that I use many Kontakt 5 presets with scripts that require MIDI input over a specific MIDI channel. So I'm making my Bitwig presets by saving Container/Chain devices containing the Bidule VST (that specifies the needed MIDI channel and adjusts my control surface data to fit the following Kontakt instrument) and then the Kontakt VST followed by EQ and compressor.

My Container/Chain trick is also a workaround to deal with the fact that Bitwig's "Deactivate Track" doesn't free up the RAM memory used by samplers. When bouncing instrument tracks to audio, to free up CPU, I can delete the original instrument track's Kontakt instance and when later on requiring to adjust my mix/programming I can recall it by that Container/Chain preset and replace the bounced audio part.
