I haven't installed it yet but it seems to be a light version of BIAS FX Desktop.
Yes, it is not a full version. It isn't a demo, but it is very limited compared to either of the full commercial versions.
+1

The LE version only comes with 6 FX boxes, the full version got 60, so it is like only 10% of the full version, a rather skimpy LE version.

It is almost as anemic as the recent Beat version of TH-3 :(
To be fair it has still all their cab models activated including an acoustic simulator "cab" and it sounds pretty good from what I can tell.
In terms of restrictions in the stripped down version "Beat TH-3" is far worse ... not to speak of the latest CM amp simulation (U530 CM) which is next to useless.

Just curious, what were the limitations of Beat TH-3?

FWIW I like the U530 CM, can definitely get some pretty decent tones out of it. I actually found the limitations rather generous compared to the full version, which is already more or less a one trick pony (or two trick if you count in the clean channel too ;) ). Sometimes I just prefer those clean and simple amp sims that you can put on a track, turn a knob or two and get what you were looking for. Therefore I'm also quite a fan of the JST Toneforge models. Except for the Ben Bruce signature they're nowhere near versatile, but what they do they do it perfectly. Of course Amplitube, Guitar Rig, etc. are great but for quickly nailing ideas or demo tracks I sometimes just find them overkill (many choices = many minutes of trying and tweaking :P)

The Softube bundle is tempting but I can find no info or demo for it on their own site. On the JRR site it says to go to their site for more info but nothing to be found.

I didn't see that softube bundle coming. That's a really good price for those plugins. I was expecting them to leave out the full TSAR-1 reverb and opting for the cheaper TSAR-1R and leave out the Trident channel and Heartbeat, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Too bad I'm broke.

Here's all that is included:

not very much ... not even a proper delay

...for the U530 CM: I don't like the full version exactly because of what you said (one trick pony) and for me the limitations of the CM version make it totally rediculous. - I also like simple little amp simulations for sketching ideas but for me that's more like in the ballpark of ampLion (which can be tweaked quite a bit but you can easily set a decend sound in no time w/o being destracted by too many options) ;-)
My go-to simulations atm are bx-megadual (love it) and bx-rockrack v3.

is there something wrong with the Soundcloud demos? or does this plugin actually sound rather bland?

I just bought it too. Been waiting for it to hit $29 bucks. Thank you guys for the code! The PLUGINDAY20 code is a sweet deal.

Thank you.
Just pointing out that while the code was listed to expire 10/31 I bought the NX last night (11/2) and used the code

That Softube bundle is amazing!

The LoopBased sale is worth checking out too. I know that when I hear about another sale on some soundware site I've never heard of I just scroll past, but LoopBased actually distribute samples from quite a number of other companies, and everything on the site is 50% off (as they're closing down).

If you could use some hip-hop/pop/EDM/house/trap etc one-shots or loops, now might be a good time to fill yer boots. There are a number of big drum one-shot packs that are good value.

Can it compete with Komplete ?

IMHO they're quite different. I see Komplete as some really useful basic tools (Kontakt, Reaktor, Battery) with a bundle of soundware tacked on. If you're going to be using samples you really need Kontakt, and it makes sense to get the rest of Komplete with it. Reaktor is very nice to have, and some of the expansions are useful. If the rest of it turns out to be useful, great.

I don't have the Softube bundle yet but I have some of the plugins in it. A lot of it is (excellent) emulations of hardware, each of which will be useful in certain specific situations (Trident A-Range when you want a character EQ, Heartbeat for drum synthesis, Drawmer S73 for mastering, etc).

If you don't have either Komplete or Softube Volume 1 but have $400 (or however much) burning a hole in your pocket, I would get Komplete first as the tools are more basic everyday staples. However, the Softube bundle looks lovely, and I've been following the price of TSAR-1, Modular and Trident A-Range for a while with the intention to pick them up eventually so it makes sense for me to get it.

Jrr include details of what plugins are in the bundle on the product page and Softube have full details of all the plugins

I saw Uncle E's post in the no gossip thread for the softube volume 1 bundle at $359 - but just saw that softube have thrown their hat in the ring against slate digital by doing a subscription service too on it at either $19.99 pm or $199 per annum:

we live in interesting times.
