Great sound ! It didn't take me long to decide to buy this synth.
I can't seem to find the post but there was a post about a very peculiar behavior where the setting of the resonance would impact the volume?
I guess a very high setting of the resonance would make the signal pretty quiet? Anyway, something you wouldn't expect at all, and has a negative impact on the sound. There was also no obvious solution without side-effects.
Urs responded that the original had that behavior too, and he wanted to stay as close as possible to the original.
I would prefer to have a setting in the options to turn this behavior on or off. In that way, true believers can stay true to the original. Others can turn it off.

Always loved Yazoo and love these sounds! Hope you'll release these sounds, together with your own ideas, soon. Sure that would be another great sound set!Luftrum wrote:I recreated the Yazoo (or Yaz if you're in US) classic 'Only You' using 10 instances of RePro-1. All sounds, with the exception of the 808 snare, comes from the RePro-1 synthesizer alone. There's a limiter on the Master Out with a subtle amount of tape saturation but no other effects are used. Some of the presets in the track will be submitted for inclusion in the factory content of the RePro-1. All credit to Pea Hicks for the midi.

He did very much indeed! All over 'Upstairs At Eric's' he used the Pro-One extensively and 'Only You' should be created with nothing but the Pro-One and an 808 snare, according to synth geeks.4damind wrote:You nailed the sound very close. Has Vince used a Pro One for Yazoo?

Above is the original post.Urs wrote:There are tricks to preserve overall gain when resonance kicks in, but they have side effects.ericzang wrote:Great character to this synth, thank you!
When resonance is increased, the general volume decreases. I suppose this is authentic to the original, though I find it discourages me to modulate it. I would be happy to see an option to maintain more consistent volume.
Also +1 to micro tuning.
For now I just want to keep Repro close to the original.
I would prefer this to be an option in the settings, so that the user can choose to enable or disable this. This way, diehards can stay as close to the original as they want, but others can choose not to have this side-effect because this quirk is not a benefit.

Been using it for a couple of days now. It sounds incredible and I am extremely tempted to buy it during intro. It works great for me even at this alpha stage. But I always get sad when the VAT is added onto the prize in the U-HE store, that's a real bummer. I was just about to pull the trigger but I am hesitating at the prize still. Decisions!

Yes, agreed. Would love for there to be an option to minimize that behavior as some other softsynths have done. Having to constantly deal with gain compensation after adjusting the resonance level is the thing that's kept me from pulling the trigger on buying this one so far. It sounds fantastic, but the extreme amount of gain reduction with resonance (no matter how accurate to the original that is) is a bit of a buzzkill for me.Stefken wrote:Above is the original post.Urs wrote:There are tricks to preserve overall gain when resonance kicks in, but they have side effects.ericzang wrote:Great character to this synth, thank you!

Any chance of the master output becoming an option in the Mod matrix? Might be interesting to tie to the Output to velocity.

Hehe, sorry, we've deliberately left it out. There's too much potential for major fuckups.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Any chance of the master output becoming an option in the Mod matrix? Might be interesting to tie to the Output to velocity.

Should U-he just do tax fraud to sell their stuff cheaper?
