In think it makes perfect sense. The big selling point of u-he is sound quality and - since Diva - analogue tone. The big drawback of u-he is software complexity. So why not do a few products that take advantage of the one thing while avoiding the other? Or maybe use some as extensions to Diva?

Making Repro was fun. Sounds like a good plan to me doing more of this.

Also, can't wait to sell my Oberheims off and get some Arps in.
Nice Urs! keep them coming!

I think I read you post somewhere that the plan is to model then sell.
Can I therefore assume that the oberheims (my favourite hardware synths for the record) are to be modeled at some point before being sold?

I don't think we'll get there straight away. We have planned to add this into Hive and Repro-1, but unlike our previous implementations I would like to move it (or an extension of it) into the keyboard control. Which will require a lot of extra work, but may make the concept better.
tun file support will be awesome! thank you! can't wait.

Post

How tuning is useful? In what situations?

Post

in some projects i will use 432Hz tuning, in something other than equal-temperament.
some tunings even iron your clothes.

excellent [insert Mr Burns picture here]
i'm actually really hoping the Wasp will become part of Diva :P
i know it's a widely hated synth, but i have a real soft spot for it.

Urs, what's the minimum delay time of Lyrebird? I've been trying to create a flanger effect to mixed results. I'd think the time close to 1.0 @Short/Chorus mode with a healthy mix would do it but haven't quite gotten it sounding right. I'm wondering if the delay time is too slow at minimum. If that's the case, would a flange mode be a possibility for a future update?

Unrelated thanks, the best software Flange I've ever heard is the one in Satin. I wish it had an LFO rather than being a one-shot deal, but man does it sound incredible. Sascha knocked that one out of the park!

I believe the Oberheim SEM filter was modeled for Diva and available in Zebra HZ. Not sure about anything else.

I would be interested in what a u-he ARP2600 would sound like.

An actively developed 2600? Or dare I hope a 64-bit cross-platform (for those who need it) Pro-Soloist? A... Quadra? :O
A u-he 2600 would be awesome...and an instant purchase! Even more awesome if additional filter and modulation were available. Maybe an emulation of a CMS modded 2600?

Is a U-He Arp 2600 emu that essential, when Ace could be improved as necessary?

Post

Of course it is. :)

Post

Hehe, I don't think anything remotely modular can be perfectly emulated at this point of time. ACE and Bazille work because they don't try to be anything specific. But for, say, an Arp 2X00 you'd need a shitload of CPU power.

Take any modular software synthesizer (including ACE, to my embarrassment), let an oscillator with pulse wave PWM itself by -50% or so. You'll hear the disaster. Try the same in Repro-1, or any analogue synth. It took us months to get it going in Repro. Can't imagine how difficult it must be to get good results in a modular synth.

Post

How does the recent Moog modular iPad app do in this regard?
