I got the bundle for $49 so $49 for each plugin seems a bitRational wrote:I bought Plug & Mix like 4 years ago for $99. I'd suggest not buying too many of them on discount and just wait for the full package to come around again on sale. Especially considering how many there are in the full package.

Same here. I wasn't using them.e@rs wrote:They're definitely not trash. A few of them are very good, so worth chasing. It's their size (~30 MB per plugin) that made me uninstall them. I got limited RAM.

Jeez, blortblort... I appreciate your enthusiasm about your work, but I would appreciate it even more if you would just use the same text format as everybody else does in the Bargains only thread thanks in advance

The PuigTec EQs are a remarkable replication of Jack Joseph Puig’s original hand-crafted Pultec EQP-1A and MEQ-5, heard on dozens of popular recordings from artists including Weezer, Black Crowes, and Panic At The Disco!
Hey, I'm curious what people think about this sort of thing if you already have plugins that behave similarly. I like the interface of Ozone's vintage EQ much better and it's modeled after these two EQs. But also, Waves Renn EQ, H-EQ and Eventide's Ultrachannel have resonant shelf EQs that behave similarly.
In fact, I'd never actually read the manual for the Renn EQ, it's pretty decent, if a bit campy, and gives a nice basic history and defense for that style of EQ. My sense is that that the gains to be had by a specific modeling effort are slight and that most of the value comes from modeling the basic characteristics. Or, said differently, I can definitely hear the effect of the resonant shelf with all of the above EQs and I quite like the Ozone Vintage EQ, consequently, even discounted, I'm not seeing much value in getting this, but I'm curious what others think?

Waves "One code per customer" policy is a bit unfortunate... anyone got any other codes?
Wouldn't mind scooping up the Manny Marroquin EQ, but even $39 is too much for me. $19 and i would have pulled the trigger.

Without going into detail about specific plugins, the things that make real Pultecs special are the interaction between the boosts and cuts, the smooth, broad sound of the bands, and the tubes and transformers that make up the gain loss from the passive circuitry. The Pultec is the one EQ I really feel comfortable boosting and cutting to extreme levels, it just keeps sounding better the more it gets pushed. The bass boost and cut are super weird and cool, you'd think they'd null each other out but something completely different happens.

Bought the NF pulse-teq from you about five years ago, for about 20€, and it's still probably my favourite eq. That Boost/cut (Bass without the mud) workflow is so great. I'm sure it can be re-created with various curves in some parametric eq's, but these emulations it's so simple, and so obvious when you hear itUncle E wrote:The bass boost and cut are super weird and cool, you'd think they'd null each other out but something completely different happens.

Yeah, no doubt, I'm not really questioning the value of the Pultec, rather, the value of having, for example, the Waves variant which is a bi more purist of an emulation, over something like Ozone Vintage EQ.Uncle E wrote:Without going into detail about specific plugins, the things that make real Pultecs special are the interaction between the boosts and cuts, the smooth, broad sound of the bands, and the tubes and transformers that make up the gain loss from the passive circuitry. On Edit:
Well, you know, I really don't want to be "that guy," and by that I mean that guy who's talking about this EQ being sweeter than that EQ for what are probably very subtle differences, but, after demoing the Waves I think that it sounds slightly better at similar settings than iZotope's vintage EQ. I also think that the "these knobs go to 11" feature is genuinely useful. What I don't have time to really test is if it's just a variant of the McGurk effect, that is, when I look at those vintage knobs it sounds better to me. In any case, Waves made the decision for me since certain coupons have worn out their welcome, nonetheless, it's on the back of my mind if it comes around again.
So, no Puigtec for me today. However, I am pretty happy with Ozone, much moreso than I thought that I'd be and this was a very useful exercise to play with it and figure it out a bit. Also, on a similar front, cheers to ignite amps with their free PTEq-X! I don't think that it has quite the smoothness of the Puigtec, but, it sounds damn good and with the slightly different settings probably fillls in some of those subtle gaps enough for me that I'm ok missing out on the Puigtec deal, this time.
I will say this, if you haven't tried a Pultec style EQ, then download the Waves RennEQ manual, read it, then go download the PTEq-X from ignite and drop it into your plugins folder, you won't be sorry.

Does anyone know if phonec is going to be in sale soon?

I second the phonec2 question. Its already so cheap though. Speaking of that lush-101 only $49 on jrrshop? Wow that's the lowest I seen. Anyone have thoughts on it? I'm saving for black Friday but this seems too good to past up. How is the sound quality? Downloading the demo now.

A great deal indeed, best price ever. And very lush. Congrats to the Uncle!Uncle E wrote:70% off D16 LuSH-101, now $49.99 exclusively at JRR Shop:

LuSH-101’s uniquely accurate sound has been achieved only through experience: countless hours have been spent analyzing classic analogue synthesizers, and then designing and implementing DSP algorithms with close attention paid to every component in the signal path—not just the approximating the overall output. We deliver to you a synthesizer built on oscillators of uncompromising quality, filters with incredible natural warmth and character, and effects each at the absolute top of their class.
