What is it?: A Virtual Instrument rompler inspired from 80s Soundtrack for Films and TV series, as well as Pop Music. Features sounds that you have heard countless times from that era and always wanted but couldn’t find! Here they are, sampled from original 80s Synths and samplers using high outboard gear for maximum fidelity.
I'm not CompyFox. That out of the way, threads about products that sample classic romplers will ALWAYS devolve into a discussion of legal issues, ALWAYS! In virtually ALL cases, the devs involved have not obtained permission to sample those instruments and many wish that they could, so there's always a lot of interest in that topic as well as a lot of confusion and misunderstanding.Numanoid wrote:Starting to wonder if you are CompyFox in disguise?ghettosynth wrote:Yes, I got that, but, there's no issue with sampling those all day long. So there is no legal issue AT ALL! That's why they're not being included in any conversation about legal issues.
This thread was never started about legal issues, but to talk about a new product called KZ
If you want to ride the legal issues, why not just alert Big Eric or Roland
+1 on both of your comments, and hey, I have a dongle already (for PPG Wave 3.V) so that's no problem for me.Teksonik wrote:Roland/Persing are missing a huge opportunity in my opinion. If they released an accurate VSTi/AU/AAX version of the D-50 I'm of the opinion it would sell like hotcakes. I would buy a VSTi version in a heartbeat and it just might....might...be the one instrument that I would buy a Dongle to use (of course I'd prefer no dongle/iLok).
The D-50 is one of the synths from that era that I've always wanted but never owned.......
All those Japanese manufacturers missed the opportunity. Actually, they missed the whole point and went into a full conservative retard mode. Yamaha, Korg, Roland, Casio.Teksonik wrote:Roland/Persing are missing a huge opportunity in my opinion. Not to derail this thread further, but does anyone know just what it is Roland's offering here? As we've seen, they refer to it as "1987"--which is about as vague as you can get for a company that should--if anyone can--be able to use the term D-50.beely wrote:Hmm, that's interesting, thanks for the headsup...ras.s wrote:Re: sampling the D-50, I don't know if this has been discussed already in some other thread, but Roland has released their own sampled version of the D-50 (or that what it looks like based on the blurb), still in beta but available for subscription in the US:
Also interesting is that they don't actually refer to the "D-50" at all in the blurb, they speak of it like it was made by another company, they just refer to it like "the iconic instrument from 1987". The do not mention "D-50" even once. Curious...

Thanks. Roland is so weird. They're so protective of their IP and old-school. I think that conceptually they just hate the idea of selling anyone software that might contain their IP because that just makes it easy to steal.ras.s wrote:Re: sampling the D-50, I don't know if this has been discussed already in some other thread, but Roland has released their own sampled version of the D-50 (or that what it looks like based on the blurb), still in beta but available for subscription in the US:

But my first post about KZ was made before this thread.....

What's that supposed to mean...
I am a devil's advocate in favor for/of various things... but I can't be everywhere.
