Well, subtractive is all I need, and there I prefer Sylenth1's character. I am more of a musician, not a sound nerd. The simplicity, which also shows in the inviting GUI, is a big Sylenth1 advantage.
Nor do I agree about the use of effects. Sylenth1 sounds very good dry as well.

Just to confirm: I'm indeed very interested in extending the filter options in MUX. I did already research certain aspects and will continue to further study DSP and filters, and i'm confident that one day that will translate in concrete results.Taifunk wrote:The filters are the only thing that is a little better in Sylenth imo,but surely Jo will continue to improve Mux so I do not worry about that.

That is recommendable as many synth fans think filters are the most important aspect of synths.

If you prefer Sylenth I'm happy for you, nothing to say about this, everyone is free to do what he wantsfluffy_little_something wrote:Well, subtractive is all I need, and there I prefer Sylenth1's character. Mine is just a criticism on Sylenth as "reference synth",
I agree on the simplicity, but we can not say"this synth is better because it is easier to use"
we must also respect the users who love things a bit more complex.
Anyway, this is just my opinion and I'm more of a sound nerd that makes sounds for musicians
Talking about subtractive synthesis, surely the filters are the most important component of a synth.fluffy_little_something wrote:That is recommendable as many synth fans think filters are the most important aspect of synths.

Yes it seems it may be the better idea. I'm afraid I made the assumption that FXB files have some sort of universal standard, sort of like MIDI does, but they're not interchangeable between VST's. It is a shame there isn't a standard like this among presets, it'd be great to load any preset into any VST! Could produce interesting results?!Taifunk wrote:sl23 wrote:Hey, no problem. Personally, I think all that talk of thread hijacking is bollocks, the conversation goes where it goes! Easy enough to bring it back, should I want/need to. Thanks for the apology though, graciously received.Taifunk wrote:SL23 forgive me, I do not want hijacking your topic.![]()
Re-reading the entire thread I think this is the point^sl23 wrote:MuSynth is great, but it doesn't have 40,000 presets that Sylenth has. Some users prefer presets to sound design.
The idea about a semi-modular musynth vst It would be a good starting point to achieve this goal,
it is much more attractive than a sylenth clone,at least for me.

I didn't say Sylenth1 is a reference synth. But in a way it actually is.Taifunk wrote:If you prefer Sylenth I'm happy for you, nothing to say about this, everyone is free to do what he wantsfluffy_little_something wrote:Well, subtractive is all I need, and there I prefer Sylenth1's character. When a synth both sounds better and is easier to use, I would indeed say that it IS better. That's why Sylenth1 for instance is still so popular in the subtractive world.

Sorry,I did not mean that you said this,I mean that in many threads it seems to be a reference synth, same thing everywhere > warm sound, simple to use, look better,Sylenth is better...seems a nightmare.fluffy_little_something wrote: I didn't say Sylenth1 is a reference synth. Another "sylenth vs ???" thread it's just a waste of time, especially here imo.
Sylenth is only a synth, Mux/Mulab are totally different things,I'm interested in what can make better Mux and Mulab.
A dream that never will become reality,sl23 wrote:Yes it seems it may be the better idea. however we are lucky, with mulab and mux we have our standards;)
