I'm going to demo it but just want to know. I collect low-priced hosts :hihi:

EDIT: Wait a minute, it still says 79 bucks, I thought it was on sale?

So, do you need a discount code?

I wouldn't bother, I'm sure you have enough hosts ;)

Crashiest host I've ever used, like multiple times in 10 minutes

Put the money towards something you might actually want and use

I got an email for The Harrison XT-SC Spectral Compressor being $29. Didn't see one for Mixbuss.

Post

Hmmmmmmmm. Well, we'll see about that price but I'm pretty sure they did it last year.

Is there a magic button to get a VI to have the GUI open?

Post

Looks like you have to open it from the mixer.

Not diggin' thing at all so far. I'll give it a chance strictly as a mixer a little later.

Does anyone else feel like this is just a frustrating mess (w/o the cool Hendrix vibe????)

Post

For me it works flawlessly and sounds great, has since ver 2.

couple hints:

1: Always clear plug-in cache and blacklist before a scan.
2: Use jack if you want complex audio routing. Using Jack properly
requires some knowhow that seems beyond many for some reason.

*Jack is just not super graphical, and the graphics that are there
are not particularly intuitive. Using it involves creating virtual
audio routes and connecting them properly which can be difficult
if you're not familiar with it. People often have hard time with Jack.
If you are familiar with configuring audio under linux it should
prove easier.

Yes.

I would bypass it if I was you, even at $29, it's not worth the frustration, vst/vsti support is down the toilet. very hit and miss. If I could have got my $79 back I would have.
Just check out the mixbus forums, and be careful you don't get hit by the tumbleweeds, it's a ghost town.

I'm a Mixbus fun I have 32c and I love the sound of it I swear by it. Ma man I installed it on bootcamp to see and test it, Oh dear universe I swore not to open it again and deleted the bootcamp. It was unstable like hell. I'm telling you the truth On Mac I mix in a daily bases Mixbus has never given me a single crash. I know I can't generalise like this but Windows 10 and Mixbus don't get along.

If you have mac, don't hesitate to get it. But on windows, run away as fast as you can.

It might be the new UAD that I have installed on windows 10 or something but it was crashing on every move very I made. Man just check the demo.

For mac I have never had a crash for a very very long time. I love it every minute of it. Seriously It is stable like other DAWs out there.

Attention! I use it for mixing purpose only. I have never tried it for MIDI to be honest. No jock I have bitwig and Reaper for that.

But it sponsors the forum, it must be the best !!!

I appreciate all info :)

Yeah, I use it under windoze 8, cant say about 10...

Mixbus does some weird things like auto blacklisting upgraded plug-ins.
Which is why you need to clear everything when installing any plug-ins.
Just make sure to read the logs, they can help you discern any problems.

I literally have over a thousand plug-ins working just fine in mixbus.
Same as any other DAW that I use. But its best used for mixing stems
which is what its designed for.

Try it for yourself, see if you can get it working. Its a bit more hands
on than your typical DAW when it comes to configuring it. I suspect
a lot of folks just don't know what they're doing, and thus blame the DAW.

I'm not blaming anything. But I'd like to be able to have it do simple things. Like, oh, a simple toggle for mixer to arranging? (maybe it's programmable) Or when I make a midi track and select the plugin ... have the window open :ud:

Just simple things like that that I'd think would be there after version 3.x

Post

So is it $29 or what?

Post

I tend to use the full screen mode for both the mixer and the arranger, that
keeps them in place and forces you to use the keyboard to switch between them.
But yeah a toggle would be nice.

@amused: nope not at the moment. The $29 deal is for the XT-SC Spectral Compressor.
