sampletank 2L problems

SampleTank2L gives me trouble in Tracktion when trying to import wav files. Playback of the presets seems to have no problems but I want to take advantage of the stretch synthesis and import my own sounds also.

Having seen the thread regards turning off Realtime Priority mode I thought that must solve the problem but it does not and makes no difference.

Sampletank2L gives problems whenever I attempt to import a wav file to create a sound myself as this freezes tracktion 99% of the time. Occasionally I do manage to get a sound imported but is rare - anyone have any ideas on this as IK Multimedia support is non existent despite 3 emails in their direction.

My PC is AMD 2800, 1G RAM, 80G hard drive at 7200, NVidea 128MB video card

I have SampleTank 2L myself, and I must say that it's not really stable. Even worse, STRETCH works correctly only on a very small set of selected sounds. On most sounds, the artifacts are so bad that I didn't bother trying importing my own wavs so far.

Also, I agree that IK's support is not very helpful. But threre is a way to get help: right here on kvr, there is a SampleTank forum. You can probably get help there, especially from Squids. I wish you success!

I just tried Sampletank 2 Free (from cover CD of Cumputer Music 77) because I've been thinking of investing in the full product, or similar (possibly Ravity instead...)

The thing froze Tracktion (which has never been done on my computer before!) and then crashed the whole system three times... so I have given up and fully removed it from my computer. SO it failed the audition.

Assuming that the programme does actually work elsewhere, perhaps there is a bug just between Sampltank and Tracktion? (although CM are promising to show in the next issue how Sampletank can work as a Tracktion Rack Filter...so perhaps you should get hold of that issue if you can)

Also, since when was there any point in having challenge/response authorisation for a piece of FREEWARE software!!!

thanks for the tip regards CM showing the use of Tracktion and SampleTank2 which will be of interest.

Using SampleTank purely as a ROMpler is absolutely fine and rocksolid for me - its only when I decide I want to import WAV files that trouble starts

since when was there any point in having challenge/response authorisation for a piece of FREEWARE software?

Spyware, data mining, usage profile, targeted marketing, back doors, etc.

Can not help much but I can confirm that I had similar problems with SampleTank in Tracktion and other hosts as well.
I have a similar computer set up as yours.
