....Ridiculously simple situation, hell of atime getting my head around it:

"Independent sends (TM)"

Here's my problem:

let's say I have two (or 50) synths/samplers/etc.

I also have this awesome reverb effect, which eats silly amounts of cpu, so i wanna stick it in a rack, so i can use it on all the synths (yeah I know how horrible it must sound :hihi: )

what I'm trying to do now is create a situation where different synths get different amounts of reverb at different points in a track.

How to? :help:

You know what i mean...both synths might get the full monty at once, or one synth might have the reverb fading in, while the effect fades out on the other one.

In other words is there a way to create faux independently operated "sends" with a rack?

This mp3, created by moi ..eek Logic ... should illustrate that quite nicely.

I dowloaded the latest Tracktion demo today to find that a major Mac bug has disappeared :D

If i get this one sorted (essential to me) I'll spend the 80$ there and then :)

A screenshot of the appropriate rack would be very cool, thanks!

Marco :)

Thanks Rob,

I have had Tracktion for quite a while now and this was a nagging question I have not spent any time trying to answer.

Cheers,

With all due respect to adbe.org, but this is a far better (=easier) way to do sends than the method in the tutorial on TracktionFacktion.

I say, copy this on to your site adbe!

What's the oversight? Your method works fine for me!

since you mentioned automating the send effect, this is what I'd do:

1. wrap the reverb in a rack filter
2. add a pan/vol filter and connect it between the rack input and reverb.
3. turn wet down to -inf and dry up to 0db
4. add a pair of inputs for each independant track you want to feed into the reverb.
5. add vol/pan filter to each pair of input pins and connect the output of those to the reverb
6. copy the rack to all the tracks and assign the various input ports
7. turn up the wet mix on ONE (1) track and adjust to your liking.

now you can automate the amount of signal getting sent to the reverb from each individual track, of course this would be a lot slicker if you could just automate the input level slider of a rack filter instance.

so what was the easier way to do sends not on abde? did he edit it out? i'd like to know! :)

I like using Senderella for sends. They're automatable, simple, and have no latency.

I thought they had a latency equal to one asio buffer? not that it's a hell of a lot, but zero latency sure would be ;)

You're right. I stand corrected. :)

They're still dope tho. 8)

actually, senderella is zero latency... the racks impose a latency when used as sends, but not senderella. The only catch is that senderella is not useful when used with something that requires pdc (like SIR).

dyamn straight ;)

btw, you should check out my website (sig link) there's a plugin there you may be interested in (pretty weak atm though)

I was replying to ad80 before. but wait, senderella is zero latency?:cool::cool:

I stand un-corrected, and Glurgle gets zero latency. Now everybody's happy. 8)
