Tracktion 5 Freezing Up

HI All,

I'm having the exact same problem with Tracktion 5 freezing and reporting "not responding" in the upper left hand corner of my screen. This occurs upon launching the program when it is loading a project edit. Eventually the edit does come up, but the wait time is way too long. The problem happens when trying to switch between edit tabs on top as well as the Settings Tab. Once it does load an edit, audio recordings work fine. I'm running on Win 7 Pro, Lenovo W540 with an I7 processor and 16 mb of ram. I've tried disabling wireless adapter and hard wire adapter, as well as bluetooth and smart card reader adapters, but no luck. Anyone have any ideas? Very frustrating...Thks!!

At the top right there are a couple of resource measurement displays in the Edit screens. One usually has "100" in the middle of a circle and the other has "0" in the middle, with measurement marks around it. It might be that those will give you clues, if you can get them working while things are freezing. Note that your plug-ins may well add up to 100% all or most of the time; it doesn't mean they're using 100% of your CPU, but 100% of the percentage of the CPU that T5 is using.

You could check the logfile to see if there are any messages in it. Click the Help button, choose Show the Tracktion log file and open it with Notepad.

If those don't help, I recommend Procexp from Sysinternals (Sysinternals was acquired a few years ago by Microsoft, so it's all legit). That can give you clues about what's using the resources. Antivirus software is a possibility.
