Lately I got this annoying popup when ever I load up Hive. I just click OK and then everything works fine anyway. But what could cause this issue?

The plugin wants to write a file but by default the Program Files directories are write-protected. Quick solution would be to run your DAW with admin privileges.

A better solution (in my opinion) is to install your plugins in folders outside of the Program Files directory, where they're not subject to Windows' restrictions on what you can do in special folders. I install all my apps and plugins on a separate SSD drive:

g:\vstplugins32
g:\vstplugins64
g:\programs32
g:\programs64

And I never have to run anything as admin.

I do wish that plugins wouldn't store data inside Program Files, though. I wish they'd use user-specific directories under documents or something like that which is known to be safely writeable and easily backed up.

What UltimateOutsider wrote. For u-he's plugins, you can just move them to a location without write protection. Like c:/VSTPlugins, or similar.

Although it looks like you chose the option to move the data folder to another location than the plugin location. I'm not sure how their plugins "link" to the data folder location, so just moving that folder might be problematic, not sure.

Thanks for these insights guy's. These things are news to me. Up until now it has been working just fine but obviously something has changed. I owned Hive for a year and this just started recently. But now when I know what is going on I will try to find a solution.

Once again, many thanks!
