Pads on akai mpd 232 not working

Just wandering if anyone here can help getting the pads to work on my mpd 232. The controller shows up in the midi settings but the pad are completely unresponsive any help would be great thanks

On my MPD218 they flash when touched, even if they are not connected to any app.
In they don't for you, you might have faulty unit.
