I drag the plugin to the track, but all I see is an empty GUI. Can anyone help? - Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?

Post

My 2 waves plugins work. Which version of the plugins are you using? I think as far as Waves goes the VST is the best, as opposed to the VST3, but I thought the issue there was zero'd out controls not an empty GUI. What operating system do you use?

Did you set everything up in the Waves license center?

When you scanned the plugins after installing the waves, did it ask you for the waves folder? If it were me I would try to re-install and scan again.

Hi Kang,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm on a MackBook Pro, Lion, Waves latest version, i.e. 9.3, 9.61 and 9.7. I got all of Waves plugins, nothing I tried so far worked, and I tried the classic ones, not even the newer ones (C4, API560). The plugin licenses are fine as they load in other hosts such as Ableton Live 9, and re the scan, I installed Tracktion after installing the plugins. I see the plugin menu but I see double entries for each plugin though, each plugin is listed twice.

Post

The doubles may be the separate VST and VST3 versions, make sure you try both. I'm pretty sure 90% of the time I get empty GUI's was with VST3.

In the settings/plugin menu, try clearing the entire list and re-scan VST's. Does it ask you to point to a folder where the Waves stuff is located? That's how it worked for me.

Make sure you are also using the correct bit-depth plugins (32 vs. 64 bit).

I use my Waves stuff on windows, so it may be different. I really have a feeling you should be able to get them to work though.

Hi Kang,

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried, and after a few failures, it now seems to be working. Scanning got stuck at 70% a few times with various plugins, but once I re-scanned it finally completed scanning and now the plugin's GUI load.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Old thread, same problem. Tracktion 6 32bit, Win 7 64bit here.

I followed the 'Clear List' and re-scan as advised here. Glad it worked for someone but now I am worse off than ever. I had not been able to use the Waves plugs, but at least I could see them, now they are gone.

I am getting loads of dll errors now that I was not getting before.

The original Waves install seemed to put files all over the hard drive in no visibly logical order, so just trying to scan the Waves file in Programs(86) seems to be insufficient.

When I cleared the list it seems to have also cleared out my Waves cloud licenses too...they have disowned me, as I no longer find any of my licenses up there since I cleared the plugin list in the Settings|Plugins|Scan|Clear List. How could that possibly happen? Seems impossible. Apple has nothing on Waves for tight security I guess.

I'm about three days into this, and I have decided that either 1) I will soon enjoy my plugins or 2) I will finally give up on music altogether.

Nuts.

Thread Update:

Waves support got back to me after a few days. They said if you use Tracktion they can't help, won't even take info to help debug the problem.

They suggested that people use the 7 day preview mode if they use Tracktion, as they cannot help you if you have a problem and use Tracktion.

How do you like them apples, to coin a phrase.

Have you tried both VST & VST3 formats? We all have Waves plugs running OK so sounds like a system specific issue - ping our support team for deeper investigations - support@tracktion.com

Thanks for the offer for help. I will take you up on it.

Thanks for suggesting trying both formats. I tried the VST and VST3 versions, but unfortunately seems like the same odd behavior in both, no difference.

I've got a few Waves plugins, buying them semi randomly when something goes on sale that I like the look of, and they all work in T7 for me so far ... not sure that I'm doing anything special to get them going. Register them on the machine with Waves Central, then scanning in the latest version of T7, on win 10 64 bit.

Ones I have working are Doubler 9.2.0, Infected Mushroom Pusher 9.2.0, REDD 9.2.0 and the Musicians 2 bundle 9.2.0, which includes Renaissance Axx, Renaissance Compressor, Renaissance Equalizer, Renaissance Vox and SuperTap

Trying to get Bass Rider and the JJP Cymbal pack going but no luck.

All settings bounce back to zero if you touch a control. It's like living with my parents again (oh-no -you-don't buster).

Unfortunately a support supervisor sent me a note this morning DOUBLING DOWN on unwillingness to help any Tracktion users, or even answer a simple question, like 'is 64bit required to run these'.

Tracktion users beware: you are not loved at Waves. Take it from me...they have over $100 of my money and I have nothing and they don't care.
