Hi there i'm trying to record vocals into Mulab free with a microphone direct into the computer (I'V tried on PC and MAc).It doesnt seem to work and I have tried many different settings. It allows me to record the microphone via my MBox Pro and also via a Fast Track S.Card.

I am hoping to use Mulab in a community teaching project where there will be no external sound cards available. I am using the latest version of Mulab 4.4.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

MuLab does not mind whether your sound card is external, internal or on-board. What matters is whether you have a sound driver selected in "MULAB->Audio Setup" to which your microphone is attached. Set the appropriate driver type - ideally ASIO, then select the driver name for your sound card. Click the "Select Inputs" button to make sure your microphone input is selected, then "OK" till you're back out.

On the top panel, right click near the record buttons and select "Setup Record Audio", make sure the settings are what you expect and click "DONE" to get back out. Now make sure "Record Audio" is enabled.

At this point, you're ready, I think. You may need to add a track for the audio...

The following MuTools video for MuLab 3.1 may help (but remember things have changed a little):

Hi, thanks for reply, I'V tried all you said to no avail on my mac tonight i'll try with PC tommorrow. I can record via line into all my other DAWS inc Logic Cubase with no problems. In the audio set up in Mulab the only option that works for any sound is Built in output, which is fine to play midi but the audio in from the line in just wont work. Thanks again

Eventually, you can try to install the ASIO4All driver. I had a similar problem with a laptop and this fixed the situation.

So we have to install Asio in order to record audio on MuLab? Unless you have a PhD, I don't think you're going to be able to do that. It would be easier for me to learn how to play the guitar than to learn how to use MuleLab. LOL.
