But of course. Actually, I would take it even further: Xcode is free, therefore all DAWs and plugins developed with it should be free. End of Story. The "work" of those developers pales in comparison to the work needed to create an IDE. If Apple isn't making any money with Xcode, neither should DAW or plugin developers. It's called morals. Get over it.
Now hold on a gosh darn minute.

By that definition, anything that has only been remotely created with the free VST SDK must have been released in freeware form as well, no? That means, about 99% of the plugins and instruments on the market?

What about webpages with shops that use the Bootstrap Framework?
Music that was encoded with the "free" LAME CODEC?

Or am I too naive with that notion?
Good point and indeed!

I am aware of that. I just want to "question" the "concept". Because it just doesn't make sense to me

Devil's Advocate and all...

High prices for 64 EDM presets, totally different topic

As far as prices go, it's whatever the market will tolerate. If the average price for gas is $2 per gallon and you've got some station on the corner trying to sell theirs for $10, I can assure you, unless all the other stations shut down or get blown up, that guy isn't selling any gas.

If somebody is selling 64 EDM presets for $50 and there's actually somebody out there buying them, power to the developer is all I can say because he must have some pretty dynamite presets.

I'm glad someone feels that way :tu:
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

It sounds like the backing track is at 48 instead of 44, roughly a semitone out. A live nightmare :D but thats the sound albeit a little higher :tu:

Wait how long has that been a thing? :hihi:

I remember the first time I learned how to play "Jump" - and it was on an upright piano. Thing was so out of tune... it was nauseating - and I was trying to learn with some broken fingers. WTF was wrong with me?

It sounded like a chimp pounding on an inebriated and dying pack of coyotes in an slightly echoic chamber.

What's the fascination with that mediocre Jump sound, anyway? I never quite got that

1. The song is a megahit of my childhood, so nostalgia etc.
2. It's a good synth brass sound made on a synth that has a legendary status and sells 2nd hand for twice the price of modern analogs and in a studio equipped with gear worth probably hundreds of thousands, so trying to make the sound with freeware only is a tough and fun challenge.
3. It's not the easiest sound to make, that's why there are threads about it here on KVR and on GS too.

For Synth1 I think it's still not bad ;)

(yes I know it's not played 100% correct, doesn't matter)

Why Jump? Because it's the holy grail of sounds :D
It's a classic sound and is engraved in my brains, maybe that's why nobody will ever find the right sound for it hahahaha We 're all searching what we have already found ;)

Sounds good, but I think an eq would help as the highs seem too strong and the lower frequencies too weak in my view.

Soundcloud does allot of compressing, the sparkle from the high has become muddy and the deep low is gone.
With the limitation in synth1 of eq this is the best possible imo.

Yes, I remember it was a big hit, but I suppose I was already too old back then to feel nostalgic about it now :hihi:

Yes, the synth as such is great, would love to have one as well. My question was more about the patch as such because in my view it is only famous because it was featured as a solo instrument in the intro. If it had only been used in the background like during the rest of the song it would never have become a famous sound.
