I have a lot of plugins and I think that I don't need more of them, but finally I have used my Eighty Eight Ensemble license to upgrade to Sonivox Premier Collection.
I was very interested on a library like Big Bang Cinematic Percussion and it has far exceed it.
I only play with the collection 2 hours but I am very happy with the sound, specially with the companions, th harpshychord and the atsia and silk road percussion. I have 0 crashes with Maschine as a DAW.
I can complaint a little about the preset browser on the sonivox singles:
http://sonivoxmi.com/products/sonivox-singles/C91
The pricing policy of plugins is changing, this is too agressive. These megacollections at the price of a plugin.
Who is going to buy a sonivox pluging for 199€ now?
Cheers.

Okay, loaded and tried Sonic Ocean. Has some interesting sounds. Did not seem to use much CPU when watching my CPU meters while running.dzilizzi wrote:I got them during black Friday sales but haven't tried them yet. Both are reduced with five bucks, so together they don't cost more than $35, and 25% of that goes to charity.
Been looking at vids of them, and seems to offer lots of granular joy in a sleek interface. But I am worried about the CPU hit, anybody know if it is bad?
Running an 8 bar loop with with 6 instrument tracks feeding the one instance of Sonic Ocean? Only hit 15% CPU max including other processes. Running on a Quad core i7 PC. The RAM hit is about 58MB.

Hopefully they are/have come out with something new. I can see selling old libraries for cheap to get users interested in their products and then come out with new stuff. Otherwise it feels like everyone who wanted to buy it did and now they are dumping it and going out of business.Franvu wrote:I have a lot of plugins and I think that I don't need more of them, but finally I have used my Eighty Eight Ensemble license to upgrade to Sonivox Premier Collection.

Has anyone tried this? I skipped on Tutti for a bout the same price, but it was close. This seems to be similar? Just different loops? I don't do cinematic stuff, but the sounds seem like they might work for short phrases in a song.sonokinetic wrote:12 Days Of Christmas - Day 6 - Vivace for only €75 !!

Yes, I agree, the whole collection is a great deal, enough so that I did it myself to upgrade from the v2 NFR version I had, even though I'm really trying not to buy stuff right now.Numanoid wrote:Even better deal to buy the whole Air Complete bundle 3 = 10 plugs, 8 patch expansions and 28 effects for just $75dwozzle wrote:AIR Music Tech Vacuum Pro $15.99 @ JRR Shop Blowouts

If you don't already have it, that is the most insane no-brainer I've seen yet. Really great synth, stupid low just-do-it price.
Only need Xpand2 to be able to get that upgrade price at Plugin Boutique, and Xpand2 is free to get all over the place
Still, for people who don't want to spend that much, $16 for Vacuum Pro is great, and inexpensive enough that it's kind of in why-not territory. It's actually one of my faves out of the whole pack, that and Hybrid.

To my ears, and judging from the demos, they sound like two completely different products. Tutti seemed to be aimed at orchestral fx & transitions which in general tended to be dark, aleatoric, etc, where Vivace seems to be made up of complete phrases and segments of music (not just fx) and seem to be capable of doing action scenes, tensions scenes & light underscore work. If you are a TV composer and need to write a bunch of music fast, I could imagine how this could be useful, but to me this product sounds a lot like "paint by numbers" where you hold down a key and a specific style full orchestral cue plays back. Not really my cup of tea, personally.dzilizzi wrote:Has anyone tried this? I skipped on Tutti for a bout the same price, but it was close. This seems to be similar? Just different loops? This didn't look impressive to me. It's a bunch of EDM focused one shots. I don't see any Battery or Kontakt kits in there, which, to me, is the value in something like this.FLAndi wrote:Any thoughts on this deal? But ok, it's supposed to be for charity, so, if you want to give $18 to charity because it's Christmas then at least you are going to get a bunch of samples in return. If you do EDM, and you like their charity model that seems like a win-win.
OTOH, without doing further research, which I can't really be assed to do, this strikes me as a "charity startup", they may be giving proceeds to charity, but, they could also be funding their living from this model. We also know nothing about who they're giving the money to. Nothing wrong with that, per se, but, if I really wanted to throw $20 to charity for Christmas then I'd take it down to the local soup kitchen, what they do for charity is right there on display and I think that they could probably use the help a bit more.
YMMV

There are similarities, but I think you are right. I do like that they have the "sheet music" along with the sounds. Seems like a useful learning tool for someone like me who is still trying to figure this stuff out. I have another day to think on it. Thanks.LGK_Dude wrote:To my ears, and judging from the demos, they sound like two completely different products. As stated on the site: All sales from this bundle will be donated to SunSaluter, an organization that provides solar energy panels and clean water accessibility to communities in developing countries.ghettosynth wrote:OTOH, without doing further research, which I can't really be assed to do, this strikes me as a "charity startup", they may be giving proceeds to charity, but, they could also be funding their living from this model. I personally find it's a great collection just like the first bundle. I'm fine with pure wav for drums btw.

I got the first Drum Heaven bundle and am very happy with it. I kept about 35% of the samples (I usually keep 10% of drum packs as loops as useless to me), at least 1 from each contributor, and I've used several of them already. None of the contributors to the first pack are in this second pack, but there are several familiar names. If it's like the first pack, they will either be entire commercial packs they are selling, or assembled from several different packs. Function Loops, for example, is offering the actual commercial pack: http://www.functionloops.com/big-shots-2.html. There's a demo playlist on the actual page: https://www.givegetwin.com/products/dru ... -and-kshmr.FLAndi wrote:Any thoughts on this deal? If you are in need of drum samples this is a great value. If you don't use samples or you're well-stocked in EDM-oriented samples then you might find cool samples anyway, and supporting this charity model could be a plus.

I have the first bundle. The Wave Alchemy pack came with Battery, Kontakt, Ableton Drum Rack, EXS, Halion, Reason NNXT, and SFZ patches. I don't know how the companies in this pack do things but it's common enough. However, I personally find no value in the company deciding which drum samples belong together in my music but I guess it's a nice bonus.ghettosynth wrote:I don't see any Battery or Kontakt kits in there, which, to me, is the value in something like this.
Edit: So I took a look at this pack and Samplefino's contribution comes with Geist, Kontakt, and Poise presets. Waveshapers comes with Kontakt presets.
