Can Melda solve this stereo query?

Hello folks:

A very helpful guy on another forum has a plug-in problem that he says Melda can't solve. Not knowing with certainty, I'd guess that Melda is flexible enough to solve his problem!

Would someone be so kind as to look this over? If there is a way to get things done, I'll pass the answer back along to him.

Thanks!

Poster's initial question:
Over the past couple of years I've made the shift to 64-bit only Windows VST plug-ins. The only plug for which I can't find an adequate replacement is Kelly Industries' 'Stereo Tools'.

For the uninitiated here it is: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/stereo ... industries

Can anyone point me at an alternative for this plug? I have no interest in fancy stereo widening, enhancing or other cleverness; I just want basic per-channel muting, panning and swapping facilities.

Someone else recommended Mutility, the poster tried it and came back with this response:
... If I use the volume control to turn down the left channel (there's no mute button), then try to pan the remaining right channel to the left... it won't let me. It appears that the left/right volume controls are *after* the pan controls.

(This is where I've been given a stereo stem, but I want to mute one side of it and pan the remaining channel stereo centre.)

Shame - it looked a good candidate.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Hi,

I know it's not Melda, but what about these?

http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2014/09 ... -time-dsp/

They are free, VST32 and 64 and with StereoChannel, MonoChannel and DualPanner I think you should have everything covered...

Hope it helps,
Mario

Hi Mario -

Dual Panner looks pretty hopeful - thanks much!

To mute one channel, pan the other center with MUtility:

silence the channel from the upper part, enable coder and select left+Right->Mono (which is actually mid in mid/side).

You can then use your DAWs channel controls to fine tune the pan position.

Awesome, thx .jon!

Actually to mute a channel, you can simply use a channel mode say "Left + zero Right", which mutes right ;).
