I was thinking that it would be cool to create am audio looper via MUX, you know a little something for live use. I thought that perhaps Well, from my experiments it looks like I can't use and Audio File Recorder in an MUX nor are the MuSampla's paramenters exposed in an MUX so I basically have run out of ideas. I'd be curious if anyone has thought of this and has any ideas on how to proceed.

MUX hosts VSTs, so if you have one that records and loops audio input, then you're set to go.
In this schematic:
  1. MIDI and audio enters MUX.
  2. MIDI enters a drumpad, to isolate a specific MIDI note.
  3. The pad's note gate triggers an ADSR envelope.
  4. The envelope is fed to a Parameter Event Generator.
  5. The event generator's output is sent to a VST's event input. The Parameter Event Generator can now be configured to control one of the VST's parameters.
You could control the 'Record' button of a VST. Pictured is 'MRecorder'. Unfortunately, it writes to disk and doesn't offer looped playback of recordings.

To demonstrate a MUX-module-only alternative, i have built you the following preset, called '4--Trux'. It has 4 independent tracks to record to:
4--Trux.zip
4--Trux.PNG
  • Monitor Thru passes MUX's audio input to its output.
  • The …Record pads record audio input, to its respective track, for the duration of holding the pad (with mouse-click or MIDI In Notes). Pad names contain MIDI Note that triggers them.
  • The …Flush pads erases the recording on the respective track. This has to be held for a duration equal to, or longer than, the recording to erase it entirely. The pads receive mouse-clicks or MIDI In Notes.
  • …Loop Length defines the recording length before it starts to loop the recording.
  • (verical faders) control the gain of each track.
  • Master Level is the outputl level of the preset. It attenuates both the Monitor Thru and tracks output levels.
Notes:
  • The preset uses the Feedback Delay module, so there is a limit of 1 bar for recording.
  • Holding the …Record pads for longer than the duration of that time limit will yield an overdub recording.
  • Holding the …Record pads for less time than the duration of …Loop Length won't matter as the …Loop Length ensures loop length.
  • If you have a recording on a track and haven't flushed it, then engagement of …Record on that track will work as an overdub recording.
  • FOR SAFETY'S SAKE, BE SURE TO ADD A LIMITER AFTER THE PLUGIN.

Awww snap!! That's what I was looking for! I really had no idea how to make it MUX only. Big thanks and props for putting this together. I'll play around with it!!

Yep, this is fun! Just wish I could record a loop of several seconds but hey, this is good.
I would say it should be added to the base library! Thanks again!
