holy crap! :-o
I finally got off my back and tried out the Tracktion demo... things will never be the same again! That is propably one of the most clever & elegant re-inventions of UI conventions I have EVER seen in ANY PC software. :hail: It's not perfect, still room for improvements I think, but the concept behind the fluid/liquid design & drag'n drop method is very intuitive.

:?: I have some newbie questions though:

I would like to experiment with sidechaining in the rack filters, but how do I get input from another track into my rack-wrapped effect on another track?

Another question: Are there any appregiator in Tracktion (like "Arpache..?" in CubaseSX).

And does Tracktion supoort midi plugins in either cakewalk or cubase format?

Hope you'll help me out, so I can make my host transition in a hurry.

1) I never tried to hook up side chaining in a rack. Could work I guess. Maybe it depends on the plug-in? Not sure.

2) Tracktion doesnt come with an arp. BUT, many Tracktion users also own EXT which is IMHO the best arp available. They work very well together. Also I think theres some freeware arps running around somewhere. I never touch them tho cuz I got EXT .

3) Tracktion supports midi plug-ins but they have to be VST. So it doesnt support Cakewalk MFX. And of course it doesnt support the native Cubase midi plugs, those can only be used in Cubase. So T does support any midi VST. The best part about it is you just drag it onto the track like any other plug-in. Its great. Much easier than assigning channels to it in Cubase.

HI Dr Feelgood and welcome to the T community, which I have been involved in for just a few months and find incredibly friendly and helpful - a major selling point, to me, for T.

You asked:

I assume you mean like a send effect or similar? There's a plug in called 'Senderella' that does this very well - look at this topic.. http://www.kvr-vst.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49090. Hope this answers that question for you.

Go and buy T - I did, after using cubase for years it has been an absolute revelation and delight to work with a music program that is so clear, uncluttered and intuitive.

You can always try my free arpegiator called Arparatus. It goes well with Tracktion and a new version that fixes some small issues are on its way.

And while you're at it, you'd be a nutbar to not give Stringer a try.

Thanks Greg.... good to know that somebody is using it

As a clue I can tell you that I have always been looking for a way to emulate that Taurus sound or the perfect Fender Precision bass, without the money to buy them.

And you know that I prefer highly specialized VST:s......

I see you are experiencing the same thing i did a month ago! T is sweet, no doubt. It changed my life for sure :D

Give mgTriggerGate a try, it's like trancegate on Vanguard.

Thanks guys :)

Falkelab... Thanks for the tip, downloading your arp now.
In fact, this just gets better and better :hyper: A whole new world is opening up after I realized that there are in fact quite a few arp's outthere easy to load up in Tracktion. Cubase's weapons are getting weaker and weaker

About the sidechaining....
Yes, I've found that Senderella plugin but have not tried it yet becauser I think I figured out how to do it natively in Tracktion. Just use the same rack on to tracks, and be carefull when selecting the "input goes to" etc settings (Those are not as intuitve as the rest of the program I think).

A couple of new questions:

:?: I do a lot of drum midi programming. Can I change the midi editor to drummaps instead of notes?

:?: Is it possible to skin Tracktion? Or change colours?

thanks again :D

ok I see :)

Well, right now I going nuts about a thing:

I'm trying to program a drum beat but every time I zoom in on the keyboard in the midi editor it zooms in on high octaves (around c7 and so) :? . How do I get a close up of the keyboard around C0-B0 (where GM drums are located)?

Go to the piano and sort of tug it up or down, and you'll find the range you want.

ALternatively, you can hover the mouse over the piano roll and use the mouse wheel to change the octave views.

Change the channel of your MIDI clip to 10, then use the maximum zoom to see the Piano-Roll.

Or...

You could ignore the midi in Trackton and use EnergyXT as a plugin to do your midi. A few peeps around here do :)
