It's odd that that band made such a song

Christmas as a joke. The bells serve no purpose other than to fit the season (which the lyrics don't). Being an atheist, I understand that Christmas may be like a foreign land to you, but forget the first sentence (Gloria in Excelsis Deo) and concentrate in the second (Et in Terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis). I believe this fits everyone that has a heart and a soul.fluffy_little_something wrote: I do think Wham's song is rather xmassy, the bells and everything, the video as well.
Well, as long as people are religious, there won't be no paxfmr wrote:Christmas as a joke. The bells serve no purpose other than to fit the season (which the lyrics don't). I never associated "The Power of Love" with Christmas", but I guess it depends which Love we think about. But it's a great song, I agree.
Hehe, but I don't think that song would have gotten 208 million (!) hits on YT if it were not a classic xmas song as the song as such is just mediocre.surreal wrote:Well I am a Christian.. and what is to you a joke is very meaningfull to me..last Christmas of Wham is certainly.......... a bad sad joke.. almost like lady Gagas bad romance. Pretty sure it was an xmas no:1, no?fluffy_little_something wrote: I don't know whether that FgtH song was intended for Chrismas or whether it got accidentally associated with it. But somehow I have known that connection for decades...
I am a Christian too, that's why I also said that "Last Christmas" was a joke about Christmas. Seems like you misunderstood me.surreal wrote:Well I am a Christian.. and what is to you a joke is very meaningfull to me..last Christmas of Wham is certainly.......... a bad sad joke.. almost like lady Gagas bad romance. Hi Fmr... my response was not directed to you in any way.. it was directed to FLS!! But I dont believe people should x factor God..and Jesus Christ. but then it was said a loong time ago that we should expect times like these... perilous times... Kindness and Goodwill to humanity is God's message in this season!fmr wrote:Christmas as a joke. The bells serve no purpose other than to fit the season (which the lyrics don't).
