Well here's my $0.000002, having gotten this working with my 2i2 at least temporarily with ASIO4ALL...
The new amps are great. Very limited tone controls, like the originals, and most are dirty even with drive quite low, but really nice feel and organic overdrive, up there with the "recent" Mesas.
Nice job IK!

Yeh, I've been busy and have found it hard to give them a really good demo. I really like an amp to have reverb and trem, and only one fits that category. Live, I play a Swart AST which I love, sometimes I've had to use a Fender amp and I've never liked it very much, so perhaps that might explain why I wasn't overwhelmed. I think they are very responsive and playable models though. I also found it quite hard to keep them clean, or just have a tiny touch of dirt. I think the custom delux was my favourite tonewise. The twin and bassman were also in the running. TBH, as someone with one good amp in real life, that I play lots of gigs with, I think the tonal difference between all the tweeds is relatively minor, and I could easily make do with any of them. I think that has made me a bit more relaxed about wanting to buy the whole collection.

Anyone remember when the last custom shop sale happened (not collections but individual items in the custom shop) and roughly what the discount was on amps & cabs from official collections like Fender 1 or Orange? I like the warm sound of these new Fender 2 amps, but again I only seemed to really click with two of the models, so now I'm unsure if I should just purchase the full pack now (as its only 10 more gear credits vs buying the two amps & cabs alone) or wait until a possible sale on individual amps happens sometime in the future.

I don't recall but also note that the current pricing is special intro pricing so after some time when this new product goes on sale, it will be reduced from the full price at that time (as will individual models).LGK_Dude wrote:Anyone remember when the last custom shop sale happened (not collections but individual items in the custom shop) and roughly what the discount was on amps & cabs from official collections like Fender 1 or Orange? Also, we are having a sale where Gear Credits are discounted so the 100 Gear Credits pack is $/€79.99 (down from $/€99.99) and you can use JamPoints to bring that down another 30% so this may be the lowest you'll be able to get Fender Collection 2 for a long time.
Unless you already have Gear Credits, which may be the case. But you'll still be working against the full prices for any future sale.

Thanks for the info. Correct me if I'm wrong, but though the fender 2 collection as a whole is on intro sale, it doesn't look like individual parts are on sale in the custom shop, as a single amp is 35 gear credits and a single cab 10 gear credits. Is this a mistake and they should be on some sort of intro sale as well?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: I don't recall but also note that the current pricing is special intro pricing so after some time when this new product goes on sale, it will be reduced from the full price at that time (as will individual models).

Been playing with this a lot the last week. IK have done a great job with this. The dynamics and playability are excellent and they've nailed the bottom end weight that most amp sims lack, especially in the clean tones. It's an understatement really, because these are the best clean tube amp sounds I've yet heard in the box. Crunch and lead is great on the whole, although there is some uncharacteristicly loud crackle on the edge of breakup. Some models more so than others. If that could be smoothed or lowered to a comparatively normal level it would be flawless.

Glad you like!bill45 wrote:So far, I've tested the baseman, the twin and one of the champs, they are very good.
I put the acoustic simulator and Ocd pedals in front of them, with good results.
Also:
The inimitable Greg Koch did a video for Fender Collection 2 that runs through the amps as well as demonstrating how the gear responds to rolling off your guitar's volume knob (or pushing it full on):
