I'm always surprised what guitars and pianos you could sqeeze out of Synth1, but then I hear pure acid 303's and Dubstepsounds... For me it was also a nostalgic journey, cos of being a big genesis fan I heard somany sounds again that banks would have used. On the other side it would be fun havin people like Jarre entering the OSC for Synth1. He would definately have no problems... lol
It IS a beast and will always be, cos of the ultralight cpu usage for such a core of sound & soul and variete of sounds.
V-Future: Synth1 is a piano & guitar beast. My song is 100% Synth1 for example and I'm surprised myself how close I came to the Steve Hackett dimdoodelydoo shredding. lol
Same for pianos. I'm sure I could clone any old piano sound, you hear on beatles, genesis records.
If you like, listen to my song Altamont Flashback (really tough n brutal lsd driven guitar lol) and Psychedelic Beach (the piano vibes). All my last songs for Planethippies album werde done using only Synth1 with help from Marvin VST drums (bass, hihat).
Is there a special song you don't believe it's Synth1? If so, tell me. I know Synth1 really good and could tell you it it is or not.
Btw: There is a good 3 pieces preset from Retrohead. He did all the Organs and Ray's. Schiffbauer made really good prog presets.
More and more I think Synth1 is the most analogue-accoustic sounding digsynth. If there is something better, I would like to know...

Synth1 is definitely amazing. it is one of the few free synths that I actually kept and use. The quality of the tracks this month is off the charts. I'm not even concerned with how I finish. The guy who created this one is a genius not to mention very generous to give it away.

I do not know if this goes to my address.V-Future wrote:I think a couple of tracks are against the rules, they are good tracks but they are using pianos, guitars, realistic drums, well it's supposed to make everything with synth1, right?if those are made with synth1 you made a great job but I have my doubts
correct me if I'm wrong
But I got asked from other side too if I can provide my presets. I uploaded them to the KVR patch site:
http://www.kvraudio.com/product/synth1- ... /downloads
So you can download them and you will see, that all sounds are from Synth1.
And I have no doubt that all other tracks are also only done with this little beast

Well, of course I don't know which tracks you have in mind or how they were made... but I would just say that over the past year where I've been around the OSC, my mind has been blown many times by the incredible skills people around here have in doing exactly what you say - creating realistic sounding pianos, guitars, drums from a single synth. So I'd be willing to bet that - unbelievable as it sometimes sounds - people have pulled that off using just synth1.V-Future wrote:I think a couple of tracks are against the rules, they are good tracks but they are using pianos, guitars, realistic drums, well it's supposed to make everything with synth1, right?if those are made with synth1 you made a great job but I have my doubts

I can't log in to vote, get the message "Username or Password incorrect or user doesn't exist"...
I guess I have to be unlocked by admin?
Jet2 says he's made a new account... but I would have to do 40 posts first or how would I do that?

Thank You!
voting now......
How about a snapshot collection for each challenge? Theres allways some sound I would really like to know about how exactly they're made.
I especially remember listening to the TyrellN6 competition, in which some extreme sounddesign skills were shown that I would really like to have for myself...

There was a problem with one of the tracks. It wouldn't play on the voting page. I had to go to the official Soundcloud playlist, find the track, play it there, and then come back to the voting page to vote. I'm not sure what the problem is but when I tried to go to the song from the voting page by clicking on the little cloud, Soundcloud couldn't find it and gave me a whoops message.
Anyway, these guys really brought it this month. As stingy as I tried to be with my 5 point votes, I still ended up giving out 10 of them and tons of 4s. In fact, only 4 tracks (not including my own) got less than 3 points from me.
Truly an amazing month and I wouldn't even dream of trying to pick a winner.

Looks like it works again. BTW, to the right of each track there's a button to go directly to the soundcloud pagewagtunes wrote:Voted
