I'll have a whole library for Repro-1 done very soon. Actually, within the next 5 days or so. However, I won't be releasing it until February.egbert101 wrote:Five pages of opinions but no examples of either actually being used in music.

Here is a real crap and boring EDM style thing (i'm not a fan of EDM but i just tryed it here once again for fun).
It was rather for trying Repro-1, tweaked a few default patches and some own and then i added just 1-2 apple loops (just the kick and hats)
So not a real song here.
I just used 4-5 Repro-1's here (if i remember right....don't saved the "project").
I love Repro-1 for sound design and now i dived deeper i also get much better sounds out of it.
I will try to make a soundtrack/horror like thing with Repro-1 only soon.
In the meantime enjoy this crap.....

And why are some people so keen to have poly mode with its Minimoog emulation? That's NOT authentic![/quote]

Maybe the Minimoog is a bit degraded to a bass synth this days. But The Legend allows us to use a "Minimoog" also for pads, pluck sounds etc and not only for simple lead sounds or arpeggios.Terrafractyl wrote: Really I think both synths are amazing. Re the Legend, personally I never really 'got' the minimoog sound and always found the architecture too limited, so even with 4 voices of polyphony and unison after playing with the demo for an hour I was bored. BUT it sounded pretty much just like I remembered from my friends HW so yeah, really nice work from Synapse.
I use the Arturia Prophet 5 very often and also the Nord Lead (which is inspired by the Prophet 5). Repro-1 sounds without doubt very good but I have no usage for a monophonic synth. So... I know they working on a Prophet 5 and so I wait for the release of this baby.
(If I think out loud: I don't know if this was the best decision to release the Repro-1 and the same time working on a Repro-5? If many user thinking the same, they skipping the Repro-1...)

I don't think so. To make a 5 voice synth of the same sound quality, and still keep it in the realm of Repro-1's CPU usage is probably going to mean something's probably got to go. I doubt Urs is just "holding back" on optimizing Repro-1's resource use. Also, the Prophet 5 didn't have an arpeggiator or sequencer. The effects of Repro-1 seem to be as CPU hungry as they are great, so shaving those off might have to happen, or at least limiting their quality in some way.4damind wrote:Maybe the Minimoog is a bit degraded to a bass synth this days. Anyway, I've got no doubt that a Prophet 5 emulation from U-He would smoke Prophet V, but my guess is that it'll not have quite the detail, especially when doing the polymod stuff, that Repro-1 does. Arturia has also made noises alluding to the fact that they too are working on a new version of their Prophet V software. That could put U-He in a tricky place, depending on the quality of Arturia's next version. I think if Arturia didn't hamstring themselves by keeping to such low CPU levels they'd be able to put out a great emulation. We'll see, I guess. I also seem to remember that Urs mentioned that he might put Repro's filter into Diva at some point... I might be wrong about that but I could see that being a good way to go.

If you were following Urs' posts on the subject more closely you'd know this isn't the case. Sure, Prophet-5 is more voices but also a simpler modulation system with more sane ranges from what I remember. Also, the Prophet-5 emulation should be able to run on multiple cores compared to the single core only Repro-1. Or something...I'm sure he'll poop up yo explain better. He's good like that.zerocrossing wrote:I don't think so. Oh, I don't know (or have missed it) that Arturia has something on their to-do list for an new version of the Prophet V. Nice, so we can expect a better Arturia Prophet V and a new Repro-5.zerocrossing wrote:Arturia has also made noises alluding to the fact that they too are working on a new version of their Prophet V software. Good to know and for me it makes also more sense to wait for some of this releases (and skip the Repro-1).

Yeah but if you read my post you would have seen that I never liked the minimoog sound. Why would I bother with a synth that I don't like the sound of? Especially such a limited one.
On the other hand, I love the sound of Repro one and once again, I actually find it waaaaay less limiting for the kind of patches I make. Extended modulation ranges?? YES PLEASE
Everyone is different and has different uses for different synths.
I can't see why the Poly people can't understand that Repro1 is just not for them, and instead keep insisting that is inferior.
Both synths are GREAT!!!!

It took a long time to buy a pristine Prophet 5 second hand. I started looking after we released RePro-Alpha - after it became clear that we might get a problem releasing a monophonic synth. At the same time I was certain that a polyphonic version would have to sound exactly like a Prophet-5.
I found a really great sounding, collector grade P-5 about a month or two before we finished Repro-1, but it broke down and had to be repaired. We just so managed to figure out the VCO section but there wasn't enough time to wrap all of it into a poly model. We're slowly getting there...

You didn't happen to also buy a pristine Oberheim OB-8 did you ?Urs wrote:It took a long time to buy a pristine Prophet 5 second hand.

Would be a Rev 2 version then, as it is said to sound better than the "final version" that uses Curtis chips instead of SSMs.Urs wrote:I found a really great sounding, collector grade P-5 about a month or two before we finished Repro-1, but it broke down and had to be repaired.
Well, you can always release an update for Repro-1 with the changes you see fit, can't you ?there wasn't enough time to wrap all of it into a poly model. We're slowly getting there...

It would be cool if u-he started working on a synth that doesn't exist (instead of an emulation), but had many ideas
from other synths blended into it.

Zebra? Bazille? Filterscape? Hive? Actually even Diva fits that descriptionExamigan wrote:It would be cool if u-he started working on a synth that doesn't exist (instead of an emulation), but had many ideas
