Hi,

is there a way to directly open a MuLab project (skipping menu)?

I'm on Windows 10, tried using the standard Open With option on .MuProject files and also running MuLab from command line with the project path as argument (while trying out some standard modifiers I could come up with -o, /o, -f, /f, ...).

I would like to use MuLab to process audio in an art installation but I need to load the session after computer bootup automatically without any user input.

Any help on this appreciated, thanks.

Drag the project file onto the Mulab icon and the project will open directly.

But it doesn't appear to open a project when Mulab is started from a command line and the project is a param after the exe file. I thought with D&D the os creates the same syntax than the commandline

It should work as MuLab scans all command line arguments for a .MuProject file.
To analysze this install "DebugView" from Microsoft Systernals. Launch DebugView before MuLab then you'll see the log messages coming from MuLab, including the command line aruments. Does this help?

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Unfortunately nothing seems to help, D&D isn't working for me either.

I've tested this on three computers now, W10x64, W10x86 and W7x64, all behave the same completely ignoring the command line, Open With or D&D (which I guess are the same anyway).

In the command line, I'm doing this:

Code: Select all (#)

PS C:\Utils\MuLab> .\MuLab.exe "project.MuProject"
This is the Debug View output:

Code: Select all (#)

[7716] MuLab FREE start
[7716] AppFilePath=/C:/Utils/MuLab (32 bit)/MuLab.exe
[7716] AppFilePath exists
[7716] Gonna get desktop path
[7716] Gonna init prefs & settings
[7716] Gonna define graph folder
[7716] Gonna read settings
[7716] Gonna init sub-systems
I found a workaround - clearing the PreferredFilesAndFolders.Txt settings file and replacing the Start.MuProject with the project I need.

It's still weird it ignores everything I throw at it. Included is a screenshot of how MuLab looks after opening if any project was loaded before, the top button stays the same no matter what is opened externally.

I see that you're on M7.2.17. Pls install the latest M7.2.23, that should make a difference!

M7.2.23 is here: http://www.mutools.com/galaxa/

Update the .exe + .ID files.

Would be great to be able to simply click on project files in any file explorer to open that project directly, any chance of that?

Post

Just loaded M7.2.23, connected a MuProject with the Mulab.exe, double clicked the project and it opens directly into the session.
It's all there (now) :)

.23 does indeed solve the issue, had no idea there was a bleeding edge folder :). .17 is what's available publicly on the website.

In any case I'm very pleasantly surprised by the level and speed of support, thanks!
