And maybe they developed most of this before releasing Studio One 3 for having now time to develope 4? You just dont know! And as dom said, it frees from the number game!Coockie1176ln wrote:well studio one makes more frequent updates for FREE. but u keep getting updates right without having to pay within one year. I still feel studio one v3.3 is more full then bitwig 2.0 has displayed so far. i hate the license model bitwig threw out. what i like about bitwig is its creativity but studio one is not as near but i can still do a lot without needing to go advance about my sound designing with different devices. which is what i feel bitwig is aboutcodec17 wrote:Yeah well: Studio One Producer 2 to Studio One Professional 3: $199.00Coockie1176ln wrote:fun seeing all dedicated v1.0 users getting upset! I believe community has the power to change anything just stand tall. bitwig lied so and yeah im pissed. Some make more money then others, im glad im able to buy a new vsti each year for the price of bitwig year updates. now its 1-1 vsti if i keep going with bitwig. its not the most importent tool to make music. Any daw is as important. So s1 for me it has the tools needed to do the job without paying yearly fee

This model is kinda like Renoise, but Renoise 3 to 4 will take 5-7 years... lol! But each version does what it promises and is like buying a jjos... you know what you get for the cash. If Bitwig will get real stable now with these new version I'll continue to support...

Please update Touch profile for easier use on Surface tablets. I find simple tasks like changing length of arrangements a pain to use. Better use of stylus buttons should mimic a mouse better. This "skin" hasn't really been enhanced much since launch.
Groove templates/step sequencers are still lacking? (haven't seen 2.0 beta yet). Sampler/slice improvements?
Why are in app/user soundpacks still N/A? You could have had a complete storefront of ready to sell sounds that compliment the BW modulation features (thx for the freebies so far!).
More default template styles needed! Genre default, Drum mix bussing, full mix, etc.
More MPE features!!

Not a Bitwig user (yet?), but $399 list plus $159 for any updates after 12 months feels steep. Either the $100 price increase or the new upgrade model alone might make sense to me, but combined it just feels like it's a bit too much.
You're not Ableton and I don't think you're in a place where you can successfully charge as much as or more than Ableton charges; Live 9 has been out since 2013, costs $499, and has received free updates since then. A purchase plus three years of keeping Bitwig up to date would cost $880.
I get that you're trying to save yourself from having to keep big features back for major version changes, but this doesn't feel fair.

It's not their money, but the bank's? No, just joking. I find it quite acceptable here, since the Bitwig team looks to me quite agile and fresh, unlike other vendors. Quite a constant updating it was? Maybe not as fast as expected, but obviously with love for their product, not selling bullshit updates or simply nothing. Ok, the increased price is a bit hard, for me at least. But still, Bitwig is so awesome. Since it's very unique, I guess they simply can take that price. That's capitalism in a good way.I dont get the people here just accepting new license deals.
Though of course I also hate the bad examples like Adobe (having subscription model + bullshit pseudo updates), or Avid (having subscription model + bullshit pseudo updates), or Steinberg (bullshit pseudo updates + an annoying dongle crap). Let's hope, Bitwig will never turn into this.
OFFTOPIC
Renoise is another story, they sell their avant-garde DAW for an apple and an egg. Maybe because they cannot manage a constant updating. Still 100% worth the money (even if I whined a lot on their forums).
Taking about forums. Maybe it's a nightmare for any developer to drive a forum like the Renoise team (standing the whole criticism and questions + my flood posts). I love KVR forums. But the Renoise forums usually provide more info in depth and more thematic related information. And I think it's because of the dedicated forum structure.

Bitwig might just have found a way to improve their development time by a large amount. So this means the next paid update after 12 months will essentially be Bitwig 3.0..
That's not that much different than upgrading from a previous major version for many other DAWs.
I personally can't understand all these whiny people complaining about money.
If you can't afford the program, then stfu and go get a better job.
Why are there so many whiny entitled and broke artists these days??.. If anything the lot of you should be thankful for what you have. Go f**king make music instead of bitching about lack of feature X and why it's holding you back from making your f**king masterpiece.
We are living in a golden age for music production right now, having the features that bitwig offers way back in the golden days of HW would have been absolutely unheard of.

No bitwig wont magical turn into machines because they cash in more money, and we dont know if they will get more money if more will use bitwig or leave bitwig. Leting a company change the licenseplan however they choose and you are the looser. My opinion. We have right to complain because bitwig said many times you only pay for upgrades.V0RT3X wrote:Bitwig might just have found a way to improve their development time by a large amount. Have you researched whether this is actually what users want? I ask this because everything I have seen over the last 13 (or so) years would lead me to believe that users want stability before features.dom@bitwig wrote:just machine gun out features as we go
I'm not a Bitwig customer, but I have been keeping an eye on developments. It seems that a lot of people have jumped ship due to bugs. You aren't the only developers having to deal with this, but how does promising more rapid feature releases deal with any of this
I also thought your previous pricing was somewhat forward-thinking, but you've now seemed to ditch that.
What a shame!
