Bitwig 2.0

I feel like you all are whining for nothing. You got used to free shit on your smartphone...well that's not the way the software world works.
They need a continual income to be able to continually bring you new features.
Besides this is no different than any software over the last 20 years. You buy the software and thats all you get. Maybe you get one or two bug fixes but you're stuck with that version until you upgrade or buy the new version (which will generally fix the bugs you had in the previous version).
No different than it is now except you are guaranteed to get updates for at least 12 months instead of just a couple of minor bug fixes over a few years.
Secondly for something many of us use daily $169 isn't all that much. That's less than $15 a month. People pay more than that for their xbox live and playstation plus accounts, apple music, their world of warcraft accounts, netflix and hulu, cable tv, etc. And IMO Bitwig is way more fun than those other options. And guess what...you can actually make money and possibly a career using Bitwig so its' value is even higher than those other monthly subscriptions millions of people are 'wasting' their money on.
Third everyone is whining about OS updates like that's going to force you to upgrade to the latest Bitwig Studio. News flash guys...you don't have to update your OS just because a new version is out. In fact I rarely update my OS because it generally causes problems. Stable system is better than a new OS with a couple of shiny new features. In fact I just upgraded to Sierra and it's caused me nothing but problems...hence I won't upgrade this mac past Sierra from here on out and that is completely fine!
There is nothing new here or weird...everyone is just whining because it's a slightly different way to describe a model that has been around for ages in one form or another.
The way I see it you have three options:
1. Save $14.08 a month and pay the full amount so you always have the most up to date version year by year.
2. Buy once and update until your 12 months are up and then just use your version indefinitely..Or at least until something is enticing enough for you to upgrade again.
3. Buy once and never upgrade.
That's more options than you had before and more than you get with most other software.

Hmmm.. already was considering Ableton, this pushed me over the edge.

How can you be sure Ableton 10 doesn't go Adobe?Rappo Clappo wrote:Hmmm.. already was considering Ableton, this pushed me over the edge.

Are piano roll updates besides the right click to erase thingy (thank god) and track comping a part of what was not shown then? Feeling like giving us some more details on the new stuff not shown in the video?TristanMendoza wrote:Yeah theres more to 2.0 than what was shown and whats expected. The upgrade price is fine IMO. I mean even the upgrade price from Geist to Geist2 was around 100€ and that is just a plugin not a complete DAW. Happy to see so many requested features like crossfades (beautifully implemented btw.) and frequency spectrum in the EQs. But the biggest thing by far will be the new modulators. This thing became pretty lively it looks like everything is bouncing and dancing. Just project your session via beamer and everybody will love it

I love the new features, but I am going to have to think really hard about updating if Bitwig is moving to a subscription model. I see this model as being very hostile towards the consumer and $169 a year is ridiculous. Really disappointed.

If they update the clip browsing to be more along the lines of resonic/melodo that would be the ultimate workflow for me.

fl studio ableton dont have track comping. Just writing that out. bitwig is totally electronic orientated. i know a lot off people thrown shades on bitwig for not having comping. but for electronic making its not the most demanded feature, its demanded but mostly from people who are used to use that feature. but its in feature list so it probably come after many hundreds dollar hahaTristanMendoza wrote:What piano roll features are you looking for? and no I can say that track comping isn't a feature yetsisarii wrote:Are piano roll updates besides the right click to erase thingy (thank god) and track comping a part of what was not shown then?
