Well there doesn't seem to be an easy way to change the outgoing midi channel of individual notes in the editor, i think you can do that in FL studio. Might be helpful for laying out orchestral type stuff.

I'm very interested in exploring modular synths with Bitwig. I noticed that Bitwig 2.0 has a new Hardware CV Out Device, that sends CV through an audio output. Will CV Out work on ANY audio interface, or only particular interfaces? If so, which interfaces?
Thanks,
P Wig

Awesome - can't wait to check out the beta and see the full list of features
I don't mind the upgrade model at all if it brings bigger features faster. More revenue for the company = more funds to spend on development of features + overall future advancements of the software, and isn't that what we all want.
Slate digital went a similar route with their subscription model (a little different than what Bitwig is offering). It was immediately met with a lot of hostility as many people don't like the model (fair enough) & idea of having spend money. But now if we look one year later what it has done to their company, they have released a crazy amount of new quality plugins over the last year (repeater, verbsuite, + upcoming official distressor emu), + hired more personnel. So if this model helps advance the software more at a faster rate, I am all for it.

Totally aggree!rodanmusic wrote:I feel like you all are whining for nothing. You got used to free shit on your smartphone...well that's not the way the software world works.
They need a continual income to be able to continually bring you new features.
Besides this is no different than any software over the last 20 years. You buy the software and thats all you get. Maybe you get one or two bug fixes but you're stuck with that version until you upgrade or buy the new version (which will generally fix the bugs you had in the previous version).
No different than it is now except you are guaranteed to get updates for at least 12 months instead of just a couple of minor bug fixes over a few years.
Secondly for something many of us use daily $169 isn't all that much. That's less than $15 a month. People pay more than that for their xbox live and playstation plus accounts, apple music, their world of warcraft accounts, netflix and hulu, cable tv, etc. And IMO Bitwig is way more fun than those other options. And guess what...you can actually make money and possibly a career using Bitwig so its' value is even higher than those other monthly subscriptions millions of people are 'wasting' their money on.
Third everyone is whining about OS updates like that's going to force you to upgrade to the latest Bitwig Studio. News flash guys...you don't have to update your OS just because a new version is out. In fact I rarely update my OS because it generally causes problems. Stable system is better than a new OS with a couple of shiny new features. In fact I just upgraded to Sierra and it's caused me nothing but problems...hence I won't upgrade this mac past Sierra from here on out and that is completely fine!
There is nothing new here or weird...everyone is just whining because it's a slightly different way to describe a model that has been around for ages in one form or another.
The way I see it you have three options:
1. Save $14.08 a month and pay the full amount so you always have the most up to date version year by year.
2. Buy once and update until your 12 months are up and then just use your version indefinitely..Or at least until something is enticing enough for you to upgrade again.
3. Buy once and never upgrade.
That's more options than you had before and more than you get with most other software.
Maybe Bitwig should just call it "analogue". Just say the magic word and people pay everything without complains!

Interesting.... I'm on the fence with Bitwig right now. The licensing model doesn't bother me as nearly every DAW does a yearly paid update already. They are just spelling it out.
A lot about this upgrade seems right. Crossfades, vst3, Spectrum Analysis, they clearly did a lot of things people were asking for.
BUT
I know I'm not alone as someone that bought Bitwig 1 on the basis of their 'coming soon in Bitwig is..' advertising. and 160 Euro's for this update really only gives me new modulators and Crossfades.( I know there is more but these are the bits that would actually affect my work) Still not convinced. Not ready to sell my license either though...
I basically put Bitwig back on the shelf in my studio when Cubase 9 came out, as for me BWS was missing too many little things and none of the big things like modular or online collaboration are there yet.
I love the modulation system but that is not enough on its own right now.
Most of the new features of 2 are really things that IMO should have been in 1.x. Crossfades for one are a pretty basic feature of a DAW. The new devices are pretty standard 2: pitch shifter, phaser, ringmod.. again thats pretty 1.x if you ask me.
Can't work out exactly what is new in Polysynth, but it seems like there is still no Sine waveform?
Just can't understand that design choice.
So outside of the new modulators the only thing that stands out as something new or that shouldn't have already been there, is the Hardware devices and they are definitely not for everyone.
So for me and my use it feels like a 160 Euro update to get an upgrade to the modulation system but not the one I wanted??
Idk, its still pretty far from the modular system we all thought was coming (and that we even saw pictures of 3 years ago) and still no online collaboration features...
I really just wish they hadn't have gotten me so excited about features that were so far away from being implemented in reality.
Reading the part about modularity on the BWS website makes me think we won't see anything like the originally promised modular until Vers 3 at least. so there is another 160 Euros... Its getting a lot more expensive than I originally thought to get that modular DAW.
I mean obviously it worked for them(they got my 200$), and I still like the DAW, but as a company I'm less and less of a Bitwig fan every day to be honest. Stop dangling carrots!
Guess I'll just hang out on the fence for a while and see which way I fall.

Looks nice and thx for VST3 Support , now i can use my Zeta2+ , but why no Audio Unit?
and i think the Upgrade price is too high for this Addons, do a 1 month special upgrade deal for Bitwig 1 holders 99 Euro, this is a fair Deal.

People, it is not a subscription model. You pay 169$ for an upgrade to Bitwig 2.0. You can use it as long as you wish.
If there is any major upgrade released to lets say e.g. Bitwig 3.0 during the 12 month after your upgrade to Bitwig 2.0 you will get it for free on top of it! It is a gift. A subscription model would mean that after 12 month you could not use Bitwig 2.0, 2.1,2.2 … any more and have to repurchase it. And that is just not the case.
I don't recall the exact upgrade price for Ableton 8 to 9.0 but it was substantially more and the first version 9.0 was a total disappointment for me because they actually just implemented curved automation lanes, the glue compressor and recordable clip automation. I was willing to go for it anyway until I realized that the upgrade price is even bigger if I want to keep Operator, Analog, Sampler etc. although I already purchased the Suite version. I mean they did not worked on these devices and I already bought them with Suite 8.0. That is when I jumped the boat and although Live 9 definitely improved since then I never had any regrets.
