dude features did come for free in ableton 9. lolnortle wrote:But it isnt just bugfixes as stated out. There will come bigger features than just bugfixes + smaller updates.dnbhallifax wrote:And what if your yearly cycle doesn't include a version number change? You buy a full license, and on top of that you get 12 months of free upgrades, even if those are major version number upgrades. After those 12 months, you get to keep you license and you can use it as long as you want and renew your license if we introduce a feature you are interested in.
Cheers,
Dom
Then go, grab Ableton 10 and wait 4 years for 11 and everything is fine.

With Apple anual updates to their OS which break everything you will be surely paying the anual "update" to BW just to keep it working in macOS.

But what if they just hold back a set of features when realising a new version? So its already there but its planned for 9.1, "dude"? 9.0 was pretty poor.Coockie1176ln wrote:dude features did come for free in ableton 9. lolnortle wrote:But it isnt just bugfixes as stated out. You guys are batshit crazy. I'm not spending another cent on this bullshit considering I've spent my entire Bitwig career beta testing your buggy DAW. Only to find out I have to pay every year for the privilege now? Who do you think you are, your DAW does not function and now you think you can all of a sudden be the most expensive on the market? Good luck with that.

It's so confusing right now, I LOVE how 2.0 looks but I so DISLIKE the new pricing model, been having it in my mind for a few hours now plus it's full moon here so I'm not sure how good I will sleep.
At first I thought the new pricing model meant a new major update every year... but, like someone else was pointing out, what if you get stock with like 2.7 and then 2.8 releases with your wanting fixes but the date expired...
Or if you MAC OS or windows OS updates and your forced to buy 2.9 to get it to work.
Catch 22.
This doesn't look good at all... and again, I'm so divided cause I do LOVE the software so much... again catch 22.

I only use Live for basic production, sound design, and pattern based music... It isn't my main DAW or where I do most of my composing, Logic is. And it's $199 all in, and all in with Alchemy which bar none no other DAW can touch now that its native to Logic...nortle wrote: Then go, grab Ableton 10 and wait 4 years for 11 and everything is fine. As far as I can see its abletons sampler that is most significant. Then link, some max devices . Live 9 was released spring 2013. That features (except push updates) could be delivered with 9 right from start. So thats how you want it?
I can hang on L9 for my needs and do the bulk of my work in Logic and I'm a happy camper... I liked that Bitwig was an underdog of sorts with a similar workflow, but I don't see this as an underdog move at all...

Each of which will come with their own bugs, especially if, as the developer states, they will be 'machine gunning' them outnortle wrote:There will come bigger features than just bugfixes

I really dont like to disagree all the time but to use logic you have to buy an overpriced computer from logics developer.dnbhallifax wrote:I only use Live for basic production, sound design, and pattern based music... Yes of course. Its a whole machine gun of bugs. And at the end the whole software implodes and a black hole is being created.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Each of which will come with their own bugs, especially if, as the developer states, they will be 'machine gunning' them outnortle wrote:There will come bigger features than just bugfixes
