Wait, there's more? Can you please just confirm that there is more? Because I too am a little annoyed with the new subscription model.. just don't feel that the new things that were added is enough for me to justify paying (and continually paying for) Bitwig. But if there are more things to come that will blow my mind and features that I really need like proper audio comping and movie import, I'm happy to stick around and support the Bitwig team. The newly added stuff is killer and the team has done an amazing job, but they are unfortunately not what I really need for the work that I do on a daily basis. Otherwise, the idea of moving to Ableton which I've been toying around with in the past few years might become a reality very, very soon.TristanMendoza wrote:Yeah theres more to 2.0 than what was shown and whats expected.Theres so much cool shit, I think everyone is going to have their own little favorite things about this update.

You're taking Bitwigs upgrade model way too seriously. It doesn't affect you, if you like the DAW and you create cool shit with it, then you might wanna consider paying that if you want the latest and greatest, and if you enjoy supporting the team. If you don't like Bitwig then why are you here?kfarrell wrote:Nope. Don't really care. I'm not giving them any more money to Beta test their shit DAW. I just came here to see what squirmy responses Bitwig have for their suicide.nortle wrote:

What a nonsense. One does not have to be a fanboi to like stuff.TristanMendoza wrote:You're taking Bitwigs upgrade model way too seriously. What utter nonsense! Its not that he dislike bitwig as daw. Its about new pricing model! He is here because he feels angry like most off us and for s good reason.TristanMendoza wrote:You're taking Bitwigs upgrade model way too seriously. Of course theres more. We still have the open modular system and online collab features to look forward to that are scheduled for version 2. They also have plenty more features in the bag, all developers do. They more than likely have a roadmap for the next few years. I have two friends who work at two LARGE music tech companies, and they both say they have the roadmap set for at least the next 7 years. A smaller company like Bitwig is certainly a lot more flexible and can probably move a lot quicker on things they really want to. Dom even said himself, the payment system like that will allow them to release larger features and updates more often instead of having to hold everything back for major releases.anp27 wrote:Wait, there's more? Also, don't feel bad for using other tools to get certain jobs done. Yeah I use Bitwig for writing, but almost all the synths I use are 3rd party. I use the occasional Polysynth (which btw received a killer update in 2.0) but typically I use 3rd party plugins. If Im recording, or mixing anything I wrote inside of Bitwig, I do it in Pro Tools HD.
Bitwig shouldn't be slammed for not having all the features ever, done in a perfect way. FL just recently got actual time stretching, and they're on version 12.4. Live is on 9.7 and some of the highlights of their recent update are better looking waveforms, and colors...seriously?? Logic Pro didnt get MIDI effects until version 10.
If y'all NEED other features no one is going to blame you for using another tool for that purpose, or completely switching. However no DAW is perfect, and Bitwig certainly isn't behind any curve.

Thats the problem. They are 'scheduled'. Schedules slip, schedules fall behind, schedules get extended as more important things come up. The company is no longer beholden to the customers when the customers are no longer paying based on version. The customers are now beholden to the whims and scheduling pitfalls of the company and to whether or not things make it in time.TristanMendoza wrote:Of course theres more. Im not trying to knock BW, their devs, planning team, etc. These things all happen to every software dev team. And that is the problem

Sure they said that the online collab feature was planned for version 2?
I think they stated somewhere that it is still planned and will be there in the future but not which version. Also version numbers just got less significant with the new upgrade model.
But I think somewhere quite some time ago there was stated that the software foundation that makes online collaboration possible at all is already seeded in the Bitwig Studio code.
But don't expect anything too soon before they don't annouce it publically. (or maybe they annouced it for 2.0 and I just didn't read it correctly)

Right, schedules do slip and get pushed around. However, I think thats the plus with the new upgrade model. You're getting new features as they're completed. Claes could make some random cool shit over the weekend, make sure it doesn't clash and make bugs, and then release it that next week. Rather than "okay, we have all these cool new features and devices, but now were just waiting until the online collab is done so we can release all of it as 2.0" and that one online collab feature holds back everything else they have.ezelkow1 wrote:Thats the problem. Doesn't that sound cool?? The devs are like content creators themselves now. Whenever theres something new they have, they can give it to us almost immediately.
