We release bug fixes and minor updates for free. A bigger upgrade, such as a next Bitwig Studio 2.0 version will be a paid upgrade.
I can't tell you the upgrade prices yet. This will depend on the feature set of the next version. However, we will make sure to offer reasonable upgrade pricing to customers that purchased the 1.0 version of Bitwig Studio.
Best regards,
License model no way !!!

Before I purchased Bitwig in 2014 I emailed their support asking about upgrade pricing and received the email below in response. I purchased a license with this in mind. I think that customers who were lied to have a right to be upset, and that companies who lie to customers should be held a accountable.

No because its not only those whom accept the new plan that planed on using bitwig. Fine youre happy with new plan but its not fine with me that bitwig change! If its bothersome to hear about it dont read in this post explicit made for ranting about new license model.xx JPRacer xx wrote:Just accept that some of us have no problem with the new plan and please can you stop repeating the same s*** over and over again!

Pay for features - fine. Pay for bugfixes - no! In my country, and presumably in others as well, when you sell a product and something is wrong with it you're OBLIGED to fix it without asking extra money for it. Simple as that

I don't see how they lied. They told you 2.0 would be a paid upgrade and it is. You have to pay to get itGranum wrote:Before I purchased Bitwig in 2014 I emailed their support asking about upgrade pricing and received the email below in response. Chill, please. If you paid for the V1 with the promise that they would provide free updates within the version, you've already got it -- all V1 updates are free. They kept their promise. Whether they change their price plan or not, if you want V2, you'll still have to pay anyway. Now, they change their model in V2 from the start, so nobody who buys V2 now buys it without knowing of the change beforehand. And you still get some of the last coming updates for V1 for free as promised.Coockie1176ln wrote:sure go pretend that you act like a grownup so much more yourself.Redukt wrote:Alright then, obviously you're not interested in discussing things like grown-ups, you're just here to rant.Coockie1176ln wrote:Dude i didnt pay for a license! Good to know, have a nice day.
No im not here to discuss im actually just here to release some steam because this new plan really sucks and is not what i was informed when starting to use bitwig. They changed their game and all you puppets just accept lol but we wont have an argument because argument is about opening up to other persons and have open mind! I dont have an open mind about this.
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here.

I guess I'll try contact them then. Maybe it's already in the plan, though.Redukt wrote:I don't mind the yearly fee at all - yet this is a great idea.poonna wrote:If at the end of my 12 months, I'm at version 2.3.2. I should still be entitled to get all the 2.3.x releases (supposedly all the hotfixes within that minor version) after that, but not 2.4.x.
This, I think, will at least eases some bugfix anxiety for propective upgraders.
Have you contacted Bitwig via their website about this? Maybe they'll consider it.
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here.

Sarcasm I assume? There is an obvious implication that version 2.0 will be a product the same way 1.0 is. Also, did you miss the bit about "reasonable upgrade pricing"?WXLF wrote: I don't see how they lied. They told you 2.0 would be a paid upgrade and it is. You have to pay to get it
It is pretty clear with this decision that Bitwig is struggling financially. Hand them your money at your peril.

I feel exactly the same.
I abandoned Logic years ago, just because of their policy.
I payed full price when v7 was released (1200,- euro's at the time).
And now it's up for grabs for 200,- in the app store.
Customers do have a right too you know.

My favorite posts so far:
The person saying that 20 euros a month would be better than 160 a year. Someone apparently wants a 33% price increase!
People talking about Apple's Logic pricing despite the amount of time and development that eMagic spent with Logic going for over a thousand euros a pop.
Keep on Bitwig! If this thins the whiners out of the crowd, all the better.

Lol, Coockie, just relax, you're a smart cookie while they are being mischievous.
I never make mistakes; I just blame others.
