1. I'm a BWS fanboy, never had a DAW that was this inspiring to work with, the workflow is excellent, for my style.
2. Bitwig as a company is still really new, and they've got a very crowded market to wiggle their way into and to get a real slice of the pie.
3. New features as already described in this thread, are great! No end to the modulation you can do with BWS, internal and external. Plays really nice with modular synths!
4. BWS 2 pricing is not a subscription. It's a purchase. You buy 2.x and get all updates/upgrades for 12 months, even if it goes into 3.x. You don't HAVE to pay any more after 12 months unless you want/need to. I hear those who doubt that will happen, and are soured by the slow fixing of bugs in 1.x and thus think we'll only be at 3.1.10 or so by the end of the 12 months.
5. About that price, $169 for the upgrade? I paid $299 1.5 yrs ago, have very much gotten my money's worth with BWS. I personally want to support these guys because I want Bitwig to not just survive, but to thrive. If you're pissed about the new pricing/license model, then you're probably not very dedicated to this DAW. I am, and I want for these to be around in 10 years. All that said, I DO agree that $169 is a little steep.
6. All in all, I think this is a great update. I do agree with what several have written, though, that the "marketing" or PR behind the licensing model and the way it's been communicated was not very well thought out. Perhaps it should have been worded, "$X gets you version 2.x and, by the way, anything beyond that if we hit it in the next 12 months"?
